The Arizona defense has been pretty dominant and has won the team games with Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley at QB.
No doubt. I agree that he's done a great job in Arizona. I think he'd be a great DC for the Jets if they were willing to pay him.
That isn't going to happen. He's only going to come here as HC and there is a good chance of that happening.
Then we're all screwed because he's not HC material. I think his chances of getting this job are 50/50 at best.
What do you know of him to know he's not head coach material? Have you watched every Cardinals game and sat it on team meetings?
I do know that the Jets do not need another first time HC, especially one that's a defensive coach with no offensive experience. That's the exact opposite of what they need right now.
Well I doubt it's Harbaugh. So otherwise going college route and Sumlin or Kelly or retread like Schwartz.
Yeah, Harbaugh's not coming here which really sucks. I like both Sumlin and Kelly. I'm actually kinda thinking Josh McDaniels may be worth a look. Sometimes a few years and fresh perspective is what's needed for a guy who's getting his second chance at being a HC. Most probably won't agree but I just think he may have matured a bit and he's got a good offensive mind.
Why is Jon Gruden not in the mix? Talk of his wanting to stay in the studio instead of on the field is tenuous at best. Head coach experience and success is imperative. Gruden's the guy I'd want.
Looks like his ties to ESPN are not as tenuous as I thought. That certainly puts him off the NFL market for the short term anyway. I wonder if there is an "out" to go back to the NFL in the future, not that I'm looking forward for the Jets to be back in the coaching hunt again after this year any time soon.
According to either Espn or NFL.com Harbaugh is the top NFL HC candidate and Rex is number 2. So why not a trade: They are both still on contracts. Swap Harbaugh for Rex. And maybe add a conditional draft pick based on both team's won-lost records in 2015. I know, not going to happen but it makes as much sense as other Harbaugh trade rumors.
Kaep can't read defenses. And he likes to fumble on the one yard line. He's not a scrub because he's an elite runner and has elite arm strength, but that only takes a QB so far in this league. I think we've already seen his best.
At least if that happens there's no way you'll tune in Super Bowl LI and see Pete Carroll on one sideline and Rex Ryan on the other.
Whoever is hired, please let him be an offensive genius. I think we have enough talent on the defense for it to be good without the head coach having to be a genius. We need an offensive guy to add innovation and who has a plan for the offense that we clearly have not had with Ryan at the helm.
