ROFLMAO at knuckleheads like you who think Cutler is the answer. You miss the glaring facts that in spite of having such a great arm, he has worn out his welcome with two franchises and they struggled mightily with him at QB.

NE isn't going to trade Garoppalo to us if we threw in the Brooklyn Bridge in the trade.

Saw someone earlier say if you had to choose between Jay Cutler at 15 million a year or Geno at 990K a year it would easily be Geno and it's really not even a discussion. Unless Cutler is released we would be very very dumb to trade for him. I'd look at RGIII or Bradford before Cutler regardless. My best case scenario is Cutler goes to Tennesee and Tampa Bay grabs Winston or one of the free agents and we grab Mariota.

So Einstein, who do we go out and get? Name me one "answer" better than Cutler right now. It's all arguable at this point. There's no top Quarterback that will be in the free agency so I think system fit and asking price will be the determining factor for a new QB.

The question you have to ask is "Can you win a Super Bowl with Jay Cutler?"

I actually think that the answer is yes. Especially if the Jets can surround him with enough talent and get the Bears to eat some of his salary. Winston and Marriota will probably be off the board by the time the Jets draft anyway. Cutler has the arm and ability to make all of the throws.

He is a gunslinger, but if the Jets can get back to their old defensive form, they should be able to make the best out of his boom or bust risky throws.

Just my 2 cents... Anything's better than Geno

I heard Schefter was reporting that any team that trades for Cutler would probably ask for a fairly high pick in return for eating some of his salary. I don't know the truth of that but I suppose it's a factor to consider as well.

Whatever sap gets the GM job will trade down. What's worth than getting the 30th pick is getting the 5th. Tampa Bay and Tennessee get QBS we get dick.

Maybe we don't get a top QB prospect but there are enough blue chip players at the top of the draft that I don't think whoever the GM is will trade down. There's enough of a difference between picks 4-7 and 30 that a GM probably won't trade down. Pick 4-7 is hardly "dick."

    I've already stated my preferences.

No, there is no top QB that will be available in FA, but there almost never is. What the Jets will look for (or should look for) is a vet who can give them a decent level of consistent play and not turn the ball over, while the young QB they draft sits and learns. I don't know if Shaun Hill will be a FA, but he's a decent option, as is Moore, Bradford, and maybe Hoyer. If Carolina's backup QB Anderson is a FA, the Jets should go after him.

For QB, I'm fine with keeping Geno. He's not a complete trainwreck anymore and he's making cheap money. You never know with a new HC what Geno will look like. Chances are he will look the same, but you don't want to throw away a young player for no reason.

We definitely need an older backup who will probably struggle holding down the fort for 16 games but will beat out competition in TC and preseason. I also think if we are outside of the top two QBs, you need to take a shot later in the draft on one. That would give you a veteran like Moore, Geno, young QB. I think that's fine.

Open competiton, obviously would be stacked against the rookie with the least experience but you never know.

Not a train wreck? Are you kidding me? He's horrendous.
We wouldn't be throwing him away for no reason. We'd be throwing him away because he's been the worst QB in the league for two straight years. That's a pretty good reason. No ... Actually it's a very good reason. Another good reason is because he can't get the ball in the end zone .... A MAJOR PROBLEM. Good riddance.

Agreed. I've been banging the Glennon Drum for weeks. I believe he's the perfect young QB to bring in and develop, and he should be available.

I still believe in Geno, but a new regime is going to want their own guy. I think we'll be in range to take Winston, and if the Rams cut Bradford I'd aggressively pursue. But no Cutler unless Schefter's report is true and they give us a 2nd round pick just to take him off their hands.

If we cannot grab Mariota or Winston and are in position to grab Cooper, I am OK with giving Geno one last shot with a new coaching staff and a potentially great developing outside weapon in Cooper. Realistically, what is the downside? Either Geno shows improvement and we look smart for sticking with him or he bombs out again and this team puts itself in position to draft the top QB prospect in 2016. I don't care about wins next season, not in year 1 of a new regime and when we are in a rebuild. The impatient fans will talk Bradford, Hoyer, Locker, etc. in some desperation move to try to save face with a 7-9 season. The desperation "win now" stuff is over. Rex is gone. Idzik is likely gone. The new coach and GM have a 3-5 year window to make this team a title contender. There is no expectation or pressure in 2015. None.

Either we are developing a young QB next season or we are not. Gene is still a young QB with upside. Now if we can grab Mariota or Winston, I'm all for that as well. And I suppose I would consider Hundley or Petty in rounds 2-3 to throw into the mix too.
