Those who remember my most excellent Beautiful Women thread may remember a first pager entry for imo one of the most beautiful women of the 20th Century, that being Italy's Virna Lisi. Ms. Lisi's recent death was reported in today's NY Times, at age 78 apparently from an undisclosed incurable illness. She originally became known to mid sixties US audiences as an intended "replacement" for Marilyn Monroe, and with her blonde, as was not her natural color, there certainly was a resemblance. But she did rather few US films, apparently having married an Italian industrialist who did not want her to pursue her film career. She did eventually do a larger number of Italian films, as well as appearing in numerous photo spreads and fashion shots. Her passing deserves notice, imo, and I highly recommend googling her image. One of the most beautiful of the last century, I submit is for me beyond doubt.
Boy, that's a name from the past. If memory serves, every blond was "the next Marilyn" back then- Connie Stevens, Virna Lisi, Tuesday Weld and to me most especially, Joey Heatherton. Oh Lance Rentzel... what a fool you were!
