So what do you guys make of this idiot? My take on its Rex probably knew he wasn't ever going to be good enough so he didn't even waste his time Apparently, the Jets didn’t tell cornerbackJosh Thomas, “Don’t let your playbook be stolen.” They apparently didn’t tell him other things, too. Claimed Wednesday on waivers by the Lions after being cut by the Jets on Tuesday, Thomas met with the media and talked about the things he didn’t learn about in New York. “I feel like I wasn’t given the attention necessary as far as being engaged from the coach-to-player standpoint and knowing the things I need to work on,” Thomas said, via Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com. “It became where I was there as a player and wanting and desiring some feedback that wasn’t given. So sometimes I may have been standing there with a [deer-in-headlight] look in my eyes trying to figure out what I needed to do. “So at the same time, just from the past experiences, every organization operates differently — so it could be the way that the Jets operate. I just want to be great. I want to get better every day. I look forward to enhancing something about my game every day, and [the Jets] were just more independent there.” So what was his reaction to the first day in Detroit? “It was refreshing, like, ‘Thanks for coaching me,'” Thomas said. If the Lions make it to the playoffs, the message to the Jets could be, “Thanks for cutting me.” Which could give other Jets players an idea. An idea that could lead to a lot more playbooks being lost.
This Josh Thomas guy has been in the league for 4 years, and has been with about 4 teams. He's a fringe player, someone you just cycle in and hope that he can quickly prove that he belongs to be here. They gave him the chance, and he admittedly had a deer in the headlights look, and so he was cut. Rex is going to devote his coaching time to the guys who are actually going to play, and the guys he sees as having the most potential. When you're a fringe player like Josh Thomas, you have to be your own coach and motivator. It's also not a testament to his football abilities that he admitted being totally lost, despite this being his 4th year in the league. By that point you should have confidence and be able to figure things out without needing massive amounts of individual attention.
That makes at least two Dbs that the Jets cut this year that have made active rosters of other teams: Bush with Denver and him.
This is not a story. A scrub getting upset about being cut after being a moron and losing his playbook is not a noteworthy story. Next
Ive seen our starters look like deer in headlights. So I actually think this has more merit than some of you want to give. I stated in another thread rex and staff obviously dont develop talent, and this has been a constant since rex has been coach. Underdeveloped players. And yeah you should be coaching all your players. You never know when youre going to need to need them.
Yea because Rex hasn't developed Mo Wilk,Sheldon,he made Revis a better player when he was here,Coples,Snacks,Dmario Davis, Rex has developed some guys or does he only deserve blame ?But never credit for anything? There isn't much talent to develop to begin with
Oh dont start this rex lovefest. What about Wilson, Sanchez, Hill? Coples hardly plays to potential consitently. Kerley? Sheldon and wilk are good inspite of rex. Come clearly thats why were in this boat. He did not make revis a better player. Revis would be revis regardless.
While who knows his motivation and truthfulness it is not the kind of thing that is surprising when Woody & Idzik gave all the assistant coaches no security. Where they are working the entire year on one year deals rather than the normal 2 year deals that are customary for assistant coaches. All our coaches have known all year long they are gone at the end of the year with no security and nothing to fall back on if they cannot find a new job fast in 2015. I am sure most of them have spent a lot more time this year thinking about where they will be in 2015 then the Josh Thomas' of this world.
considering the success rate of the 40 picks rex has had in camp over 6 years and 2 g.m.'s, this story does raise an eyebrow.
It shouldn't be a story and when you're that guy who is a journeyman-type player, you probably should keep your mouth shut... BUT it's not shocking that the Jets coaches don't coach... Fuck Sanjay Lal, or whatever his name is, fuck David Lee, Fuck Marty... Fire em all!!!!
