This is true. He is better than Geno and Vick. And I do think this organization should be in the business of getting better players. He's got the arm for the windy Meadowlands too. I don't want him at his current salary though. Also - he needs a change of scenery but I don't know how he'd handle the NY media sharks. Cutler with Rex Ryan would be a disaster but who knows who's coaching this team next year. Maybe an offensive mind who's smart enough to hide Cutler's weaknesses and build an offense that emphasizes his strengths. If that's the case and they can get a sweetheart deal from Chicago - It might be a savvy move.
Cutler would be a disaster with this team. He's a mental midget with a cannon arm that will always cause vanity drooling. Look at the bigger picture though, and it is quite ugly.
Cutler is a legit starting QB. He has his faults & he's not elite, but there's no doubt he can play in the league. If Cutler is available, we should pursue him. I feel like he could be Vinny T revisited for us. I would sign up for that immediately.
I pretty much agree with this. I want no part of Cutler and especially not at anywhere close to that salary. I think it's important for a QB to have leadership qualities and this guy doesn't appear to have any of that
Nice job of trying to deflect, you show how little you know w/ all your posts. what would have changed this year w/ Jay Cutler over Geno Smith? Chicago w/ boatloads more talent has just 2 more wins than us. you want to be 5-9? is that your goal? Jay Cutler is awfyl, watch football games instead of just looking at boxscores. Cutler has been a disaster w/ every coach he has played for.
I'd rather the Jets take a chance on RGIII than Cutler but going the veteran route does intrigue me. Especially since they had that thrilling win sunday that puts them in the position where they'd have to trade for a QB in the draft now
I don't know what would have changed this year with Cutler here instead of Geno Smith. They'd probably not be a playoff team & you can blame Idzik and Rex for that, but they'd have better QB play.
Benching helps drive down Bears asking price. Could potentially be had cheap. I don't think he's much of a leader, but he's an upgrade at the QB position. Jets wanted Cutler on several occasions before.
Sure, if it's a 2 or 3 year deal worth about 5 or 6M per year without much guaranteed after the first and there is a young QB and other competition on the roster... But how can you get around that massive, guaranteed contract though? And can you really see this guy succeeding in New York?
And not for nothing, but I don't Cutler is done in Chicago. Marc Tresman seems like he's been an absolute disaster this year and I bet there's a very good chance he gets canned.
I think there needs to be a scenario where Chicago eats up some of that guaranteed money if a trade goes down. And to be honest, I don't know if he would succeed in NY - I think if he has the support w/in the locker room it would be an OK fit. I think Cutler has something left to prove in this league and what better place then here throwing to Decker, Harvin, Amaro and potentially Amari Cooper? I don't want to go into next season with Geno Smith - we need some sort of veteran here - Cutler should be added to the list.
http://www.chatsports.com/chicago-b...y-Cutlers-Contract-After-The-Season-10-16-697 I mean if we keep Geno Smith as the starter - we will def be in contention for a top pick nxt yr too.
I know I'm out on a limb here, but I don't think I agree with that. If MM is the OC here than, yes, for sure we will be in contention for the #1 pick again. I still think Geno can be a quality QB in the NFL (Not franchise, but a guy who can still win big games ((crazy, I know))). Jay, can't; he never will. I still believe a team doesn't need to have a top 5 qb to win it all. I don't even think the QB has to be top 10. Run the football, PA pass, extend drives, manage the clock/manage the game.
I don't trust Geno Smith on the road in a big game. I don't think he's the answer for us at all. I know MM had a rough yr, but I don't believe MM is the absolute reason the offense is bad. The offensive line, and lack of production by the QB did us in. Jay for 2 yrs wouldn't be so bad especially if we solidify the offensive line. Anything but Geno IMO. If he starts we are in contention for the #1 pick regardless I think (which wouldn't be so bad considering the prospects potentially coming out). Geno was so bad the coordinator had to tell Geno where to throw the football prior to the snap.
I know I can't win this argument. I guess the only thing I will add is I just think Cutler is a "bad" teammate and I wouldn't want him in a leadership role anywhere near this young fragile team/offense.
interesting. Bears could save 16M of that guaranteed money by cutting him. would still be a huge hit financial hit for them to absorb, but they might be ready to cut their losses. if he hit the open market he wouldn't warrant a big contract based off his recent performance. in that scenario, he'd be worth looking into, as the price would be reasonable. even if he's average, he'd be a big step up from our QB play the last few years. my main concern with him....just doesn't seem like he gives a shit, and this market would attack him even more viciously than Suh.
