Obnoxious, unfortunately, has become a way of life in stadiums - this doesn't come close. They have done absolutely nothing to be banned from the premises and have never been abusive, which may rise to the level of exclusion. You don't like your boy being criticized? Too bad - suck it up and quit trying to tell others what to believe in.
The logical gaps here are numerous. First of all DRC has been having a very good year for the Giants. You are implying he is part of the problem. He is not part of hte problem. The Giants would be even worse without him. And while Smith has been the single most important roster situation leading to the 3-11 record, he's not the only factor. D is 24th in points against, for example, and the WEAKNESS OF THE CB POSITION is the single biggest reasson for that huge problem. You also ignore that the Jets had drafted Milliner in the 9 spot the year before and DID attempt to sign DRC this past off season. So if the Jets tried to do that, how can you say there is no way the Giants would not have if they had gotten Milliner? That makes no sense at all. I hate the fact the Jets relied on Smith this year, but he is, fairness, not the only reason for 3-11.
My aren't we cranky! You imply that customers have no right to complain. Aside from that being nonsense, how about that taxpayers support the Jets, and don't taxpayers have a right to complain how their tax money is spent? Here's an article that lays out the subsidies and other financial benefits that have gone into MetLife Stadium: Although public money has been used to help many teams around the country build sports facilities, the Jets and the Giants built their stadium without any direct public subsidies. Everything else about the deal, however, has resulted in significant financial benefit for the teams, who ended up having to pay the state very little out of their own pockets. The building was erected on state-owned land at the 750-acre New Jersey sports complex, about nine miles west of Times Square. The state gave the Jets and the Giants 20 acres each for training facilities, as well as the right to develop 75 acres into a sprawling development of stores, restaurants and entertainment sites. The state spent over $250 million on improvements to surrounding highways, construction of a new train station, utilities and other infrastructure benefits. And the teams got control of the hundreds of acres of parking lots surrounding the stadium. The state authority built the original stadium nearby in 1976 for $75 million, to lure the Giants to New Jersey from New York. The Jets took up residence in 1984. The financial arrangement was straightforward: The teams shared the revenue from parking, concessions and luxury suites with the state, while the authority received all the revenue from soccer, concerts and state fairs. There were no naming rights; it was simply Giants Stadium — much to the chagrin of the Jets. But with the new stadium, the Giants and the Jets no longer had to share the revenue from parking, suites or premium club seats, or the roughly $100 million a year in revenue from concerts, naming rights and a handful of top-tier or “cornerstone” sponsors. In return for the stadium land, the parking lots and development rights, the Jets and the Giants pay the sports authority a total of $6.3 million a year in rent and other payments. And though the teams reluctantly covered the cost of demolishing the old stadium, taxpayers are still paying off about $100 million in bonds on a building that no longer exists. “Tearing down a good stadium and building another one wasn’t one of my objectives,” said Raymond H. Bateman, a former Republican state legislator and one-time chairman of the Sports and Exposition Authority. “The impact of those stadiums has not been a significant thing for the public.” http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/29/n...been-richly-rewarded.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 I mean really, Brad. You sound like you're one of Woody's relatives or something, and by that I mean an entitled oligarch who doesn't want to held accountable to anyone.
Excuse me, but anybody who gets loud and obnoxious in any establishment is very likely to be shown the door and asked not to return. Why are football stadiums any different? You really think you could start screaming about firing the chef in an upscale restaurant and avoid being barred for life? If you did it in a diner you'd wind up out back with the chef.
Putting the Jets management in a bind in which they wind up deciding to sell the team isn't going to work for anybody and yet you guys apparently have that as one of your professed aims. Real world my ass.
Where do you see rebuild...lets take away the front 4 where we have spent most good draft picks...where do you see the future? We have our future offensive line? Running back? Receivers? Linebackers? Secondary? QBBBB???? Where do you see a plan here..Im dying to here this..dying.
You are too smart for answers like that Brad..way too smart. I got news for you...this is MY TEAM. I was rooting for them long before Woody inherited his billions. This will be my team long after he sells the team. On paper he owns a team that makes their money from the stockholders who pay their PSL and tickets...the revenue generated every fucking time I turn on the T.V. to watch them when Im not there. Its fickle fans like the ones JET fans make fun of that dont like their team..or as you put it...their FOOD ESTABLISHMENT....and switch teams. Jet fans dont switch teams...we whine and bitch because we have lived the last 45 years will the hot iron shoved up our ass...and some of us have had it with the management. Change teams...give me a break...its sports and you know better.
The Jets have drafted 4 OL the last two years. They've drafted 4 DB's. They've acquired 2 RB's and a FB via draft, free agency or trade. They've drafted 3 LB's. Two DB's are on IR right now. One of the OL is on IR. We don't know what the product on the field next year is going to look like because we can't evaluate the 2 CB's they drafted up high because neither of them got to play much this season. The plan I see is actually pretty simple. Draft players and flesh out the depth problems on the field with those players. Trade for players and sign free agents to round out the holes. The Jets would have been more active in free agency this year in the defensive backfield if they knew ahead of time that their 1st round rookie from last year was going to be IR'd early in the year. When free agency opened they hadn't even taken the CB yet who joined him on IR this year. Rebuilding teams develop most of their players in the process. They don't go out and sign expensive free agents to fill holes. Teams that already have a full roster and are just missing a few key pieces go out and buy expensive free agents. If you shortcut the process the way the Jets did from 2007 to 2009 you just get a very narrow window out of it, assuming everything goes well, and then you're rebuilding from scratch again - much like the Jets were by 2011. You know why the Jets had no chance at all in the AFC Championship Games in 2009 and 2010? Kris Jenkins was down for the count both years. Think about it. People get on Idzik about taking injury prone players in the draft and trading for injury prone players, etc. In 2008 we acquired a guy who'd already had knee surgery on both knees to be our bulwark in the middle. Not surprisingly he wasn't around for the end of either 2009 or 2010 when we needed the bulwark in the middle.
Your first paragraph you go on to mention all the picks and use no names...the problem I have is the names. The names. Who he drafted. If you noticed in all of my bitching about Idzik, I rarely mention the QB. Thats because I throw him a pass on that position because its friggin tough...a tough position to find a diamond in the rough. Your post is good if you mentioned the names..for instance...you say 4 offensive linemen. Come on...how do you feel about inserting them in once Mangold or dbrick go down...or in a few years when they start to decline. This team is several years away from being a washout. Harris will be gone after this year...the secondary is starting from scratch in YEAR 3 of Idzik. He drafted 2? or was it 3 receivers that will never see the field. I dont know why people are defending him...I truly do not know.
We never said that is one of our "aims"… we said that would be the fallout if (and only if) Idzik is back. It won't matter because there is no way Idzik is coming back.
If you make the assumption that Dee Milliner, Geno Smith, Brian Winters, Calvin Pryor, Jace Amaro and Dexter McDougle are all busts the team is already washed out. I make the assumption that several of those players will be key Jets moving forward and so the washout is not here yet. The Jets draft too many project players. They reach for too many players. They prioritize poorly in terms of which positions need to be filled and when. None of that started in 2013. It's a long-standing pattern and it's got to get broken if the Jets are to consistently do better than they have in the past. I'm defending John Idzik because I think he's a smart guy who really listens to the people around him and who makes decisions based on consensus. That's how all the organizations he's been with in the past have operated. That's one of the reasons they have tended to trend upwards over time. I have some real doubts about whether the Jets have the right people under Idzik at this point. I think you can't hold his feet to the fire unless you let him try to succeed with people that he knows and has worked with in the past. As a figurehead he was never going to fix the Jets. The rot isn't up top, it's down deep in the woodwork of the organization.
That's pure bullshit. When you linked Idzik and Woody selling the team you made your aims clear. Beyond doubt. You can pretend you did something else but it's pure bullshit.
Good point about the guys you mention, except Winters, who IS a washout. Milliner and McDougle aren't "busts" per se. Milliner is "oft injured" and so is McDougle. Their history of injury was/is significant, so I think you CAN actually hold Idzik responsible for selecting "oft injured" players and project (McDougle) in positions of immediate need. And I can agree that the Jets scouting has been horrendous...for a significant period of time before Idzik arrived. But isn't it why you replace GM? Isn't that why Idzik was hired? To fix the scouting department? It's called GENERAL MANAGER for a reason: the fucking buck stops there. When you're the general, you don't blame the fucking NCOs for losing the war. If the Jets scouting sucks, it's on the General Manager to fix it. And there's no evidence whatsoever that he's replaced a single person in that department. And, General Managers--which Idzik was definitely NOT with the Seahawks--have the final say. There's no "consensus". There's a recommendation and there's a decision by the man in charge. the Jets were a better team before Idzik than they are now, after two years of his "leadership". they aren't trending up, far from it. I think that's really all that matters.
I don't see how the Jets, as a practical matter, could have a worse owner. Sure I suppose Trump could own the team, but that's not very likely. I wish we had an owner like the Ravens do. Steelers, Giants, there are several good owners or owner groups.
and what do they all have in common BB? They are behind the scenes for the most part and bring in sound football people..period. Its not complicated when you bring in football people and not money people to be a GM. Its VERY complicated getting to that point...that I get...but when you create a football only mentality...thats eventually what you get. When you create a circus mentality...you get 3 different kinds of rings...and thats Woody in a nutshell.
you are really reaching now… take a deep breath. Happy Holidays to you and your family. No reason to keep this back and forth going. I respect your passion for your side of things. We just disagree.
