Don't think there's a chance in hell either WR is able to get away from current team. That being said Decker and Thomas are like brothers so he'd seem to be more realistic. Either one would be a dream come true.
I just don't get how you want to invest a top 5 pick and a big contract into a pass rusher but you don't want to give an elite guard who is 27 a deal worthy of it.
Do you think there is any way in hell that Decker can tell DT that coming to NY is a good move after he is so clearly miserable?
Well not for anything but in that situation I don't think a player would ever discourage a better player from coming to the team their on to help out. Decker received his big contract benefitted from DT all those years why wouldn't he want him here to take away some coverage?
You have Mark Sanchez in bold letters....... HAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give me anyone of the Ram QBS whoever they are willing to trade I'll gladly take none of em are INT machines ala Geno/Cutler
Yes and they were finishing touches, not building blocks. I want more talent though so I do think we need to get a bit more aggressive going after short term starters.
Bingo. Most of the guys on that list will never leave their teams and if they did, we would just about the last place on their list To act like guys like Dez or D. Thomas are even conceivably in play for us is fantasy of the highest (and craziest) order
Pass rushers are very valuable athletically gifted players. They play in space and use their natural gifts such as speed, quickness, athleticism. Guards are the least athletically gifted players on the O-Line, and probably on the football team, with the possible exception of Kicker and Punter. They are basically just big strong dudes that take up a lot of space and are jammed between the Tackle and Center. Unlike a Tackle, they don't have to defend a huge amount of space upfield and move their feet as quickly, and unlike a Center they don't have to read defensive coverages. There is a reason pass rushers go as early as any position in the draft, and Guards are almost never drafted in the first round.
If Idzick is still here what agent would want to deal with him? He is known to low ball FA's by what is said in the media. He might just go overboard and over spend on a player and with his insight on talent (pun) it would be the wrong player. We need a hard nose football guy runing the ship not this maroon. JMO
I understand the difference between the two positions but that shouldn't devalue the position when it's a weakness. It doesn't always have to be a strength lined with pro bowlers but when our left tackle sucks with us being locked into him playing next to terrible guard play at both spots, that's three terrible offensive lineman. I like DBrickashaw but he's been absolutely terrible this year and we're basically stuck with him even if he does restructure. We could take a tackle and move Giacomino inside but we also need to stop assuming these offensive lineman can just play anywhere like we did with Winters moving from tackle to guard and he's horrendous. Not to mention we have a good defensive line, whereas we have terrible offensive line and guard play. My point being there's no sense upgrading a strength when there are several spots of weakness.
We don't need to do that though. Why not have DT, Decker and Harvin? Whoever is the QB will have a much better chance of being successful if we have those weapons. The Jets are almost forced to spend money in FA this offseason. They either have to spend this offseason, next or some combo of the two . There is a minimum each team has to spend over the span of 3 years in the new CBA.
Hey I'm all for it but that cap money goes quick...we need OL help a QB ... CB and gotta resign Wilk etc..
Call me crazy but with Sheldon proving he can handle the load... I'm ok with trading and or letting Wilk walk... doubt we can keep both anyway in the long run it would cost us 25 mil
