Not surprised by this. At some point, Woody isn't tone deaf

Believe me or not...I was with my fiance eating chicken n rice in the street just now (cart food) right by 53rd and 6th and Woody freaking Johnson was alone walking up and right past me with his head down wearing a green hat. He was definetly not in a good mood. I told my fiance and immediately thought about going up to him and tell him how I'm a big jets fan that I hope he makes the best decision for the team this offseason. But I let him go mainly because he looked super bummed out. But I regret it a little. Just felt odd seeing him

I'm thinking he may have been by the SNY set or league office

    Gads I don't like the 50/50 notion. I would like it 99.99% he's a goner.

I hope Woody doesn't do anything rash and fire Idzik. I think Woody needs to give him a chance to make his plan work. Too many reactionary fans who cannot sit through an actual rebuild. Woody shouldn't listen to them.

I think it comes down to the Pats game. If we get obliterated 42-3, in our house, which sits half empty/half Pats fans, with the few Jet fans bothering to endure waving "Fire Idzik" towels - if that doesn't push him over the edge, then nothing was ever going to.

Unless the source was Woody Johnson, this article is pure speculation. It's a good summary of the decision that Woody has to make, though.

    Okay...

    To all the "plan" people...

Can any of you, based on anything Idzik has said, or anything you've observed in his tenure, attempt to explain what the "plan" is? If it's to build depth through the draft, it's mixed at best. If it's to use FA to fill needs, it's friggin awful. If it's to take care of our own, he's so far paid an average tight end and a slot receiver he had to pay because his theoretical replacement was so shitty he cut him in October.

So far the guy has shown a talent for saving, be it through dumping bad contracts, not overpaying for free agents etc. But that's literally it. Other than that he's drafted sub-par at best, developed a reputation for low-balling veterans (which if you don't think affects us down the road too you're insane - agents talk), and crossed his fingers that his bargain-bin risks (both injury and character) would pan out. And they haven't.

Not trying to shit on the "plan" believers. I'm seriously asking - what the fuck is it? Because I don't have a clue.

I think one important point that was brought up in the article that hasn't been touched on enough when it comes to Idzik is his supposed mantra of "competition". The draft picks and whether they have been given enough time to be assessed can be debated endlessly, but it seems like the whole competition thing has been a sham. QB was the biggest issue on this team going into the season and he completely ignored having a real competition at the position. I don't see why we should expect that to suddenly change.

well everyone on the board who wants him gone gave him credit for finding 5 players in 2 years of drafting and free agency periods. Idzik issue is left the team devoid of talent and had resources to secure talent. If I did my job like him I would be fired why should he expect more

Don't overpay for pieces until you have a QB. That seems like it to me.

He's passed on any higher contracts that would raise talent level but not necessarily raise our ceiling. He has raised the talent level in what seems to be deals he likes with Decker, Harvin, and Ivory but he hasn't made a big splash. It feels to me like he's not committing or going all in without the QB. Which makes sense but doesn't at the same time. It's a thin line.

That isn't true. Madden's franchise mode has been a good teacher for decades. I'm sure he runs different situations via the simulator.
