You kind of glossed over the fact that the Sanchez Interception put the Eagles down by 2 scores instead of just 1 score, and yes the fumble hurt, but not as bad as the pick, nowhere near. You also glossed over that on the possession after the fumble the Sanchez led eagles punted after 4 plays. and with a whisper of life still in them, when the big time players step up and drive and make it interesting...he throws a pick. Granted two scores down and only two minutes on the clock on that last drive, but the Eagles have an offense that can score in one hell of a hurry, long shot but still possible for that offense. Fact remains in all of Sanchez's starts a team with him at QB has only overcome a 14 point deficit 1 time. (according to reports, I haven't personally combed through every game). I know you'll argue that Sanchez led the Eagles to 24 points to take the lead 24-21 in the 3rd...the problem...they would only go on to score 3 more points all game....The Sanchez interception alone (the first one) would have been all the Cowboys needed. Never mind that the scoring drives were led by a running attack by McCoy that took the pressure off of Sanchez, but when the Eagles needed Sanchez to step up and carry the game....flat tire. And here's the thing, Sanchez missed several passes to wide open receivers by a good margin. But yeah, go ahead and throw the normally reliable TE under the bus for the loss, a guy who's fumbled all of 3 times in 342 receptions in his career, as opposed to the guy who's thrown 78 picks in his career. Sanchez is at this point this season what? a .500 (3-3) QB with 10 TD's and 9 picks in a QB friendly system, a high octane offense, and offensive weapons galore. Sanchez, if he starts any further games this season, and he very well may, it will be against 2 sub .500 teams, one of which is a potential trap game against the Giants. If he starts the Eagles have a very good chance to win at least one of those games....their chances are better however with Foles.
If Dallas and Philly end the season tied the tie breaker goes to the Eagles currently. But the reality is Philly HAS to win the next two games and hope that Dallas loses at least one game. I wonder if Sanchez would throw fewer picks if he didn't have chicken grease on his hands from eating on the sideline j/k.
Look Mark wasn't really horrible last night. Not second half of 2011 bad or 2012 bad. He has enough talent to play in the NFL and when everything goes just right can help to win games. I still don't believe he can run Chip's offense and based on that look on his face after Sanchez turnovers (something we're all familiar with) maybe he's starting to be a Mark disbeliever, too.
Oh he'll play in the NFL, he's a quality backup QB IMHO at this point. But in todays pass happy NFL he's just not consistent enough to be a starter for a contending team on a year in year out basis.
the fumble was worse than the pick as was the TD drive to give Dallas back the lead. The pick hurt but there was plenty of time left and after the Philly D again couldn't stop Dllas after the pick Mark led them down the field and got it w/in a score again. who cares? check how many comebacks Brett Favre had from 14+ down. The facts are Mark's teams win more than they lose and he led his O to 27 points and brought them back from down 21-0.
1. He's starting, but he's no. 2 on the depth chart. No. 1 is hurt. Let's not manipulate what "starter" means. 2. He is not playing well. 3. He is helping the team, but he's also hurting them way too much. 4. His team is in the race, they've also lost half 3 of the last 5. He's posting a passer rating under 88. He's close, but still too low. He has 9 interceptions, and 3 lost fumbles for his 10 TDs. He's throwing INTs at a rate that matches his last year with the Jets. His Total QBR is only 48, still lower than his best year with the Jets (where he still wasn't playing that well). No matter how you slice it, Mark Sanchez is not doing a great job. He's made improvements to his game, but not enough to show that he deserves to be no. 1 on any team's depth chart.
1. Michael Vick was the starter last year, got hurt and they didn't go back to him. same deal here. 2. yes he is, outside of 2nd half at GB and the Seattle game he has been playing really well. 3. not hurting them at all 4. 2 of the 3 losses are on the D(at least). he has thrown 2 meaningful INTs. total QBR is a joke.
That's a premature comparison. Foles was named the starter after clearly outperforming Vick. We don't know if Sanchez will be named the starter when Foles is cleared as their seasons have been very similar and the Eagles may just hope Foles can play closer to his 2013 form.
Tough to say one has played any better than the other. The numbers, the wins and losses...no one has a clear advantage. Kelly certainly hasn't annointed Sanchez.
Tougher schedule, maybe...but has he faced tougher defenses? I don't think any are in the top half of the league right now. Maybe Carolina?
no one is playing better D than Seattle lately and GB on the road is pretty damn tough. Regardless, IO am not trying to pretend Mark has been Tom Brady but this notion that he sucks just isn't true. He's a quality starter that doesn't shrink in big games.
