He does. Show me a player in the league , who can defend, rebound, and shoot like Khawi? The guy is an outstanding rebounder, and although he doesn't make the "sexy plays', he does everything right. Did you see him in the '13 and '14 finals? He PUT up 15 PPG in that series, outplayed LeBron,and he hasn't even become a good ball handler yet! If players such as Gordon Hayward, and Kyrie(Yes Khawi is better than Kyrie) , are getting max contracts why shouldn't, Khawi? The Knicks won't be winning a title with Melo as their best player, but he's a max player right? Getting a max doesn't necessarily mean a player is top ten.
He's a top 5 defender. He's a great rebounder. Above average shooter. I did put a big YET in my post. Kawhi is a step below Paul George IMO. Idk why the hell Kyrie got a max but he's def one of the premier PG's in the leauge. We all know why Melo got a max. He's a top scorer in the leauge and IS the knicks offense. Kawhi has hall of fame talent all around him including the coach. He's in a perfect system and yes he did shine in the finals. We have to see him do it more consistently. No player averaging 16 points and 8 boards is getting a max lets be real. But shit like i also said he can go to a weaker team and get the max there.
And we all know spurs don't give out big contracts... idk if they match any crazy big contract but i could be wrong. The appropriate time for it would have been over the summer after his monsterous playoff run or somewhere during this MVP like season he's having so far.
Kyrie puts up big numbers, but he's not a top 8 PG. I'd take Curry, Parker, Russ, CP3, Lowry, Conely, Wall, Rondo Lawson, and Lillard over Kyrie. He's a terrible defender, who consistently displays bad footwork when guarding the PNR, and he's an inefficient offensive player, who over dribbles too often. As I said Gordon Hayward got a MAX, and he averaged 17 and shooting 40%. The Spurs will most definitely give him the max, and the only reason they didn't, is because they want to make a run at Marc Gasol next summer.
Yup Gordon Hayward another one... dumb contract handed out. But look at the teams these guys are on. Weak teams give out max contracts too often but it's understandable.. it's their only way of landing somebody. Melo getting it is more than understandable though even though he plays shitty defense and has a lack of effort at times.. He's still almost neck and neck for best scorer in the league. But that list of PG's... i think i'd agree with you. Kyrie is very flashy but if you look passed all that he turns the ball over alot and as you said his defense is a joke.
