UNC didn't look like a final four contender today did they Junc? Kentucky is good no doubt, but the Heels looked equally as bad. UK didn't play all that good on defense against them either. I've read your comments that UNC isn't an early season team, and how great Roy is at developing the team as the season progresses (which every team does not just UNC and Roy, nothing special in that comment, just a bunch of filler), well it appears they have their work cut out for them in a major way. The talent pool in Chapel Hill, just doesn't look like final four material to me. Maybe you should re-think all of your Final Four comments!! Maybe you should hope that they don't suffer Duke's fate from last season? Sure looks bad for your team my friend, really bad. The sad part is, I wanted them to win. I absolutely hate Kentucky, more so coach "Cal" the used car salesman!!
The WCC actually is better than most people realize, it's not like they play in the Summit or the SWAC. BYU has been ranked a few times in recent memory and has wins in the Dance while in the WCC St Mary's made a Sweet 16 about 4 years ago and if I remember correctly beat Villanova (help me with that guys) Portland beat a few ranked teams and was ranked 3 years ago University of San Diego beat UConn in the Dance about 5 or 6 years ago It's not just some pushover conference like some people want to insinuate, how would Gonzaga do in the ACC? Hmmm give them the budget of Duke or Carolina and they still get to keep Few as coach? My guess is they'd probably be the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC and in some years they'd probably push for the conference title.
They weren't bad. Turned it over a little much, UK all of a sudden got hot from 3(NO ONE will beat them if they are hot from 3), a bunch of home cooking for UK. That game was closer than the score indicated. UK is a good team though and Rupp is tough to win in, Carolina would beat 90% of the teams in the Country the way they played Saturday
Go take a look at the WCC right now, and tell me the conference's best win that did not come from Gonzaga.
From ESPN: So far Big Ten members have lost to: • a team without a conference (NJIT) • a team that's just reclassifying as a Division I member (Incarnate Word) • three directional universities (North Florida, Eastern Michigan and Eastern Washington) • and a MAAC school that lost to Seton Hall by 15, but beat Rutgers by 18 (St. Peter's)
What do these teams have in common: Kentucky Duke Arizona Virginia Villanova Louisville TCU Colorado State
Carolina would beat 90% of the teams in the country the way they played Saturday? Really dude, do you watch basketball? Have you ever played competitively, other than pick up games? Neither team could guard fence posts at this point in the season. I will say UK shot a ridiculously high percentage from their norm, but a large portion of that can be blamed on Roy's defensive team. Is that UNC's third or fourth loss already? UK plays one more good team and then their season is over. Your team on the other hand isn't finished losing with the way they have played from the beginning of the season. Keep watching, you might see the big problem with your team, but it doesn't appear you do or will.
I'm not pretending that the WCC is the 2nd coming of the Big east circa 1986 but it's not some piss poor conference like the America East or Southern either. They have won games in the NCAA tournament and have had multiple teams advance to the Sweet 16 in the last decade so it's exactly what it is, a 2nd tier conference behind the ACC, B10, B12, Pac12 and SEC. St Mary's beat Creighton on the road They also beat UCI and New Mexico State who were preseason picks to win their conferences You know what though, I'm gonna play this game with you. If you eliminate the preseason rankings and replace the name Gonzaga with Florida State they would also be ranked around the top 10. They crushed the #22 team in the country in their 2nd game of the season They beat St Joes by 52 points!!! You can say St Joes is down as they only lost to Nova by 28. They went to UCLA and blew them off the floor They beat a mid level SEC team in Georgia They blew Washington State a mid level Pac 12 team off the floor They beat a pretty good St John's team by 7 They lost in OT on the road at Arizona. Yeah I'd say that's a pretty good resume so far
big win for duke last night against Coastal Carolina(this is what happens when the ACC doesn't force them to play tough teams) and you crawl out from under your rock. You clearly don't watch Carolina and duke play(and clearly didn't watch the game Saturday- maybe too busy scouting Coastal Carolina?) or you forget how pretty much every season goes. Celebrate the big December wins, they will fade down the stretch and in the Tourney like always and Carolina will improve like always.
Texas is currently Ranked #9, behind Gonzaga, If those were the best wins that the Big Twelve had thus far, what would the press say? You know what though, I'm gonna play this game with you. If you eliminate the preseason rankings and replace the name Gonzaga with Florida State they would also be ranked around the top 10. They crushed the #22 team in the country in their 2nd game of the season A team with three losses They beat St Joes by 52 points!!! You can say St Joes is down as they only lost to Nova by 28. If you watched the game, Villanova clearly took the gas of the pedal, not wanting to humiliate a fellow Big Five school further They went to UCLA and blew them off the floor UCLA has three losses. Their best win... UAB? They beat a mid level SEC team in Georgia Well WHOOP-DE-DO! Lots of SEC teams beat Mid-Level SEC teams. Does that qualify them for a top 10 spot? They blew Washington State a mid level Pac 12 team off the floor They have SIX LOSSES, Including UTEP, Santa Barbara By 30, and... need I go on? They beat a pretty good St John's team by 7 Probably their best win of the year. Are you prepared to give Villanova the same praise if they beat them twice? They lost in OT on the road at Arizona. Ahh yes, Gonzaga: They get the best of both worlds: When they win, they are national powerhouses. When they Lose, they are scrappy underdogs, so we give them the benefit of the doubt. Yeah I'd say that's a pretty good resume so far This program is an absolute joke.
Dream on, you clearly don't watch anything football or basketball related, that isn't on your fantasy channel. Enjoy this years tournament, while you and your Heels watch it from the seats in some auditorium playing in the NIT again. If you do make the tournament, if your team learns to play a better brand of basketball than the crap your depleted talent roster has been, you won't be a one seed, two seed, three seed, but 4-12 most likely. Since you are the only one on the planet who has this superior knowledge of football and basketball, (you believe) what are your teams strengths and weaknesses? What must they improve upon to keep from losing 10 or more games, and maybe losing enough to not make the NCAA's? It's obvious that you don't understand the big picture of College basketball or NFL QB play, because of your ridiculous defense and opinions of UNC/DUKE and Mark Sanchize, so please enlighten me. Give me all the "context", stats that favor your arguments, all the while ignoring anything that counters your argument regardless of the factual importance, like you have done so many times against the many people on this board who have proved you wrong. UNC doesn't improve each season as it goes. If so why did they miss the tournament, what was it 3 times in the first 13 years of the 2000's century already? Dukes early tournament exits boil down to 2 very important subjects. Defense and player personnel groups. The 3 years that Duke couldn't make it out of rounds one or two. , it was easy to see that those teams were weak defensive units. By you saying that "Duke doesn't improve year in and year out throughout the season" is a cop out because you don't know what their strengths or weaknesses are just like you can't see what your teams strengths or weaknesses are. Just like you can't convince everyone on the board that Nacho is a true QB. You have yourself convinced about many subjects, but that sure doesn't mean everyone is wrong and you are the only one who is right. Duke may have had some early exits due to their team problems that never got better as the season wore on. For you to say that Coach K, the greatest college coach in NCAA history, can't get his teams to improve every season, is a joke, and a feable attempt at winning an argument. If UNC improves every year, why were they NIT bound 3 times in the past decade? Imagine..... If they hadn't improved like you say they do each year? We're they a winless team that nearly made the NCAA's but got cheated by the selection commitee? Hahaha
