Yeah. I am much more a College BB fan than a FB fan. In the 80 ' s basketball was king in Oregon. Ralph Miller was at OSU with Payton, AC Green and a ton of other talent. They were number in the country one time. UO had the Mac, the best gym in the country. The Pitt. The Stoudemire family, Terrell Brandon were in Portland HS's. Then Miller retired, all the talent left, Portland cut its sports funding, the Pitt was condemned and Phil Knight built that atrocious Matt Court. Even the Far West Classics where Magic n Larry played in college was cut. It's all gone.
Yeah I remember Payton's last game with OSU, they lost in the NCAA Tournament, think about it. That was the last time OSU made the Dance. Payton played like 20 years in the NBA so that's how long ago it was. They are like Rutgers, a freaking disgrace. I'm a big NCAA B Ball guy, I was at the Sweet 16 when Oregon beat UNLV and then lost to Florida when they had Noah, Horford, Humphrey, and Brewer. I still have nightmares about the Oregon game as that freshman kid Pryor just couldn't miss. If UNLV didn't get so far behind early we would have won that game as Aaron Brooks really wasn't a factor.
Yeah OSU is pretty pathetic but they did fire that Robinson guy, Obama ' s brother in law. God he sucked! And hired Montana coach, Trickle, who is A HELL of a recruiter. Don't know about as a coach. I'm am still pissed at you guys for Bennett. We were his other choice. And then Oregon missed out on Aaron Gordon to UA. Who still can't win a title!
Yeah lets win! Lets have Geno and Rex come back for another year! Lets draft a safety again! Idzik you genius, we're finally seeing the formula work!
changes are coming regardless(at least w/ the coach and the QB). if drafting top 1 was a cure all why are the teams drafting near the top usually the same each year? good organizations draft well no matter where they draft, poor ones draft poorly no matter where they draft. Rooting for losses is comical.
Just goes to show how cursed the Jets are. When a lost would do more long term good for this franchise, they go on the road and blow that with a win.
To be fair, unless there's a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck out there, the value of tanking isn't as great in football. The pool of first round prospects are usually deep enough that unless you screw up (which is very possible with the Jets) you can get a good player.
We have the same morons in Finheaven...and look what happened when we won useless games to get Luck... We still suck and we are stuck with a mediocre QB. Put the homerism aside.
Just want to see Brady get hit and hopefully throw an interception. Would love to see the look of Bellis face if the Jets upset. Wouldn't mind seeing Revis get beat as well. Truth be told, Jets are most likely getting spanked this week; but hopefully there are a few BIG hits!
I'm happy we won. I'm always happy when we win. It's funny how people are talking about Mariota and Winston like they're sure things. They're not, far from it. This is actually a pretty weak QB Class anyway. Mariota has a ton of question marks about his ability to adapt to the NFL style of play. He's the furthest thing from a sure thing. I actually think he has a pretty good chance of being a bust unless drafted by the right coach and put into the right system. Winston has all the tools but is obviously a huge liability. We're probably better off waiting a round or even 2 before we take a chance on a QB in this draft anyway. Not saying I wouldnt take one of those guys if they were available but there isnt a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck coming out.
Count me in. I'm happy my favorite sports franchise won a game. All of the draft groupies can sue me.
Next week is the week I would have been happy with a Jets victory. A win against the lowly Tennessee Titans is beyond meaningless. I remember during the Mangini years we finished at 4-12 due to a late season comeback win against Buffalo (Justin Miller kick return TD). All that victory did is cost us Matt Ryan and led to drafting Vernon Gholston. Just can't force myself to feel good about this win.
you are getting your years confused. The Miller TD game was 2005 and that cost us the great Reggie Bush while we took Brick. the 2007 game was week 17 vs. KC that we won in OT. Had we lost we would have been 3-13. Miami finished 1-15 that year and had the #1 pick. Ryan was no sure thing and last I checked he has 3 less playoff wins than Mark Sanchez so while Matt Ryan is clearly a good QB he wouldn't have changed our franchise.
I would have preferred them to lose but Mariota and Winston are not expected to be close to the sure thing that Luck was. If there was a Luck coming out of College this year then I'd probably be more annoyed than I am now.
Yeah but your franchise is no longer one of the elite franchises, this isn't the 70's and Don Shula is making up his own rules. Your dumb franchise traded up to get Dion Jordan, the same franchise bought into the Tannehill hype. Like junc said notice it's the same crappy teams drafting near the top every year, the Browns, the Rams, the Jags, Raiders even with all those high picks they are crappy because they draft crappy. Buffalo finally seems to have gotten it but it's been a long time since they drafted well too.
