It's impossible because there is just to much complications like who they are playing g wit
Will he be playing in the Oregon offense in the nfl?

There is no evidence he can read an nfl defense in a normal offense. I hope Oregon plays Alabama with weeks to prepare, it will really show what mariotta is made of.

You don't think a smart coach isn't going to let him do a little bit of an offense in the NFL that "NFL defenses can't figure out"?

There is also no evidence he can't, but you're willing to pass on him because you don't know if he can't do something?

Again, tell me what schools we should be looking for a QB?

Maybe we just keep drafting Stamford QBs?

Stop looking at the school or the system and start looking at the player.

Unless of course you'd prefer an inferior player because he played in a pro style offense for a year or 2 in college. As a 20 year old.

Then we can have a shitty QB again.

The Oregon offense isnt just a "little bit", its a full blown philosophy. So either the coach will run the Oregon offense or he will not. The play's themselves are not different then your typical NFL play, but its about the fast pace and being able to take advantage of the defense not getting set, and not making ajustments on the fly. Its like a chess match at a very high pace...... That guy out in Denver, Gase he has shown he can run a fast paced offense so I could see Gase and Mariotta being able to formulate a similar offense. (Gase also worked with Tebow and his offense which did have a big playoff game, of course now he is working with Peyton, and they are moving at the fastest pace Peyton has ever run).

(I'll respond to the rest of your post in a few minutes)

Odds tell us that he will not be able to read the NFL defenses successfully. But again, lets see how he looks against an Alabama defense that will have like two weeks to focus in and prepare for him......

The body of work is still not complete, his evaluation still continues.....

You do not draft a QB just for the sake of drafting one. If the Jets believe in this guy, then go for it, but if they do not believe in Mariotta or Winston, then dont just draft them for the sake of it. (I'm sure the Bills would love to take back that Manuel pick right now.)

And to be honest with you, I would be more inclined to draft Jamies Winston, but I do not have the necessary resources to answer the questions I need to know about him. I need a background investigation done on this guy, I can't do that. The Jets can though.....

So at this time I can't answer your question because I don't have the resources that are required, I do not know who is going to be available in the draft, I do not know who is going to be on the trade block, I do not know who will be in free agency....... For now, I will refrain from answering this question because its impossible for me to know all the facts and circumstances....

    Nice reading comprehension.

Thanks for totally missing my point.

No need to respond to the rest, I think we ONLY draft QBs out of Tennessee, Cal, Michigan and Stamford.

Because THAT'S how you find a franchise QB.

Orton is a far better qb than Smith.

Wow give Orton a cookie! Jets surely would be playoff bound with him!

I think we can sum up the NYJ QB situation with this: we need a new one.

you know damn well we'll beat the Dolphins week 17 so the hope of Winston sliding to us is gone and by the time we pick Cooper will too.\

Start writing letters to Cook asking him to come out :)

Actually the Jets can win another game and still stay at #6. The team picking #7 has 5 wins right now, so the Jets cannot get a worse pick by beating the Patriots or Dolphins in the upcoming weeks. They just cant win both.

Also, early mock drafts don't have Cooper going top 3 (see sportsline). Fans on this message board keep saying Marriotta, Winston and Cooper just because they are the biggest names.

I guess you don't remember Mike Haight or Dave Cadigan? Doesn't matter what position, Jets can pick the best boners.

On a serious note ( taking the Jets seriously in the draft is an oxymoron, :p ) I screamed bloody murder on Sanchez's departure knowing
that he could have given us some respectability - I warned about Geno having to set us back due to 'clip board' learning. He get's thrown to the wolves, same like Sanchez. Is it any wonder why we're looking for another?

I was really pretty stunned when I saw the actual stats. To think that Mark Sanchez was one of the best QB's EVER in a Jets uniform and, arguably, the BEST since Joe Willie is pretty damn sobering...especially when you consider that, outside the Cleveland Browns and a couple expansion teams, every other team in the league has had some form of pro-bowl caliber passer in that span of time...and some teams multiple pro-bowl passers and in some cases multiple Hall of Fame talent! Really quite scare as to how BAD the Jets have been at getting a QB.

Sign a veteran QB to manage the game, run the ball and develop the O line. Keep Geno, and let him compete. Keep the bar low for his expectations. Wait until the right QB in the draft comes along, and the O line gets better. That's when we will develop a qb that can play
