I posted this article in another thread a few mins ago but felt it deserved its own thread,Apprently if this report is true Idzik has been helping Woody in the early search for a new head coach.Hurry put up more billboards,Woody would be a complete idiot to keep Idzik around NASHVILLE — That Rex Ryan won't be back as the Jets' head coach in 2015 is all but certain at this point. But what about John Idzik, who's been taking a beating over the team's 2-11 record in just his second season as general manager? Earlier this week, owner Woody Johnson strongly suggested he was thinking of firing Idzik in addition to Ryan. But Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com, citing league sources, reported Sunday morning that Idzik "has been helping craft the preparations for the franchise's ensuing coaching search along with owner Woody Johnson." Which, on its face, seems to point to Idzik sticking around. But—with any attempt to read the tea leaves on something like this, there's always a but—here's LaCanfora: Some sources cautioned that Johnson could still perhaps opt to hire a new general manager as well, especially should he pursue an A-List coach who might want his own personnel executive, but it surprised some around the league to learn that Idzik has been involved in the pre-vetting stages of the search. [...] To this point the franchise is not using a headhunter or search firm—Johnson has in the past—and while that could change at some point, for now it has been Johnson, Idzik and team president Neil Glat who have been handling the behind-the-scenes stuff. In other words, it's still so early in the process that it's not unreasonable for Idzik to have some input on the coaching search. And it's also so early in the process that Johnson could still decide not to retain Idzik. Johnson might fire Idzik. Johnson might not fire Idzik. Perhaps it's best to treat all the intrigue like the holiday shopping season: Only 15 days left to speculate and wonder.
Great. The Three Stooges are doing the vetting for the new HC. Typical Jets. Please, if there is a God in Heaven, don't let this be true.
So they may be thinking of firing him, but at the same time they may not and he may stay. interesting.
I can't believe the billboards and all the attention this got isn't going to help And thats not sarcasm. How as an owner can you see the performance on the field, while seeing the distain from your fans and still not make the needed the change. On second thought never mind, Johnson still gets our money so fuck us I guess
sit back and enjoy the ride.... when any franchise is losing like we have been, this is the time of the year that all sorts of rumors, bull shit, inside sources, player wishing to remain anonymous, et all come out and rear its head - lol
Because that's what leads to bad ownership, reactionary moves. Dolan used to see a bad product on the court, wanted a great basketball team, so he took over basketball operations randomly because he couldn't help himself. Instead of the Knicks getting better. They didn't win a playoff game for 15 years about. If Woody thinks Idzik messed up and will not do a proper job next year and in the future, he should let go of Idzik. HE shouldn't do it because he can't handle a few fans yelling about it
Because the fans aren't always right. Listening to a bunch of idiots that put up a billboard would be the most Woody-esque thing be could possibly do.
Well when's the last time the Jets have won anything other than a "game" no titles or championships in sight. This team needs a Phil Jackson and that sure as fuck isn't John Idzik
"for now it has been Johnson, Idzik and team president Neil Glat who have been handling the behind-the-scenes stuff." If true, this has disaster written all over it. These 3 brainiacs are a large part of the reason we're in this mess to begin with. Let's all pray this isn't true.
Speak for yourself ... he doesn't get a dime of my money - not on tickets, not on merchandise, nothing. My money goes to franchises singularly focused on winning (like the Yankees for the last 20 years).
Of course he is. He is still g.m. and is still doing all the things that encompasses. There is nothing here worth getting worked up over
Lol he would have to change his stance. The point of bringing in Idzik was so that Rex had no control over player personel, drafting, etc. Harbaugh wants full control so unless idzik will be just the money guy, I don't see how it would work. HarBaugh would want a player and idzik wouldn't pay the guy......
I understand that there is some of us who don't spend money on this god awful franchise but there is still season ticket holders and the stadium isn't exactly empty lol
And Rex has been good soldier, he wants to keep quiet so he can get another job, but I hope he goes on the radio after he gets fired and exposes this idzik guy, reveal his character, just speak his mind again.
I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Idzik stays. The only people that want him gone after 2 years are some loud fans and the bottom-of-the-barrel local sports media. It would be a terrible move to can a GM after two years on a rebuilding team, before he can even do anything, such as bring in his own HC and use the cap space he has cleared up. Haha, the same Phil Jackson that's currently presiding over the 4-18 Knicks?
It will never be empty because it's chump change for most of the holders. They probably don't even know when they get charged for the tickets each year, the jets just take the money from their accounts lol.
