Anyone with football knowledge knows that starting and sucking is not an accomplishment. For example WInters was the worst starter on the whole team, and Smith was the worst starting Qb in the league, and seems to be once again this year. That is no accomplishment. Learn the game.
You were not agruing the progress, you chose to use "You are what your record is" to shut up an opposing argument. All I'm doing is pointing out how hypocritical your utilization of this phrase is.
Wrong again, FO Homer. I was merely saying 2-11 is not progress. Maybe you think it is. Hypocrisy. Heh. You set up a phony argument of hypocrisy and try to get me off my argument. What good reason is there to think Idzik will do a good job going forward? None of you FO Homers have given a good answer to that yet. Because you can't.
1. Stop touting this pointless "football knowledge" card. It's not lending any weight to your arguments. Anyone can just go around insisting that they have "football knowledge". 2. Geno was never named the starter last year. It's disingenuous to compare him to other starters when he was actually a rookie backup forced to start week one. Rex should have benched him way sooner. Why didn't he? I don't know. It doesn't matter in the long run. 3. I agree that Geno has been pathetic this year. He can't be used as a credit to Idzik - though it's more Rex's fault Geno hasn't panned out. Again Geno should be benched but why he hasn't been, we can only ask Rex. 4. I get that we're all Jets fans and we're all upset, however, the selective amnesia and arrogance you are demonstrating is pretty annoying. The 2012 Jets sucked - bottom 5 NFL team. The 2014 Jets suck - bottom 5 NFL team. The difference? The 2012 team is in cap hell, full of bad contracts and under-performing vets. The 2014 team is not. Idzik was the right guy to break it down. Now we'll see if he can build it back up. It's that simple.
Clearly some of you are gonna ride the idzik ship all the way down, so instead of the same argumentd on why he's been a disaster I got a few questions for you. What's idzik done since arriving that has the jets in a good position going into 2015? Despite his track record you have faith this time he will draft well and and believe he's the man to choose the next head coach.. What's idziks philosophy on football? What style of players is he looking for? Not a trick question.. Rex was ground and pound, lol Chiefs west coast, Eagles up tempo. Etc... What's idzik trying to do with the jets?
I understand the game just fine, did you not read the part after Winters name where I said he did not improve, his replacement Aboushi is getting better every game. As regards to Geno I know he will not be a productive player, in the NFL, and that's why I followed it up with NFL as starter, not for long. You did not and can not question anything else about the 2013 draft, because you know as well as everyone else that injuries should not be used to discredit a GM. Maybe you need to eat a little humble pie and give JI some credit for the 2013 draft instead of sticking to your guns about how bad his drafts have been and that he can't be trusted to turn things around. However I respect the right of others to have an opposing point of view. But you are losing cred pretty quickly when you suggest that others don't know what they are talking about even when it's pointed out to you that they have an idea.
I'm not an Idzik fan, or a Rex fan, or a any one player on the team, I'm NY jets fan. And as a fan I would give the benefit of the doubt to anyone who is hired by the jets organization to do their respective job. When I sit back and look at things as a jet fan objectively the only thing I see is a HC who has not been able to field a competitive NFL offense in 6 years under 2 GM, 3 OC, and a complete overhaul of the personnel. The trend has been downward with Mike T and JI. I really can't tell you what his philosophy is because he had to cater to a HC that is not of his choosing. If he were allowed to pick his HC maybe we would have more evidence of the kind of GM he is. Based on what I see, I'm going to take a stab in the dark, I believe he wants a HC who can competently oversee all three phases of the team like Pete Carroll. I also believe he wants a balanced attack, hence his trade for Chris Ivory (M. Lynch). He probably though he was getting a cheaper version of Russel Wilson when he selected Geno. He chose a hard hitting safety in Pryor, which is similar to chancellor or thomas in Seattle. Do you see the picture I'm trying to paint? I know the jets won't be Seattle east but it seems he is trying to build a balanced team. Strong running game, which we all know is a QB best friend, a fierce defense and good QB play. JMO By the way, good job of at least treating your fellow posters with some respect. Sometimes we forget it's just a game. I'm done posting for a bit, I have to get back to reading for a promotional exam at work.
Being this bad was an inherent possibility to the strategy of dumping salary and going into the season with a patchwork team with the eye towards having significant cap flexibility for subsequent years. Being this bad certainly wasn't desired but was an already acknowledged possibility that supporters understood. So being this bad, in and of itself, doesn't reflect poorly on the strategy or would make a supporter change their mind. Idzik's draft talent evaluation is certainly suspect and should raise concern with supporters.
I want to point out a couple things that seem to be the baseline of excuses for Idzik believers. He was stuck with rex Ryan. True, but he did know this when he accepted the job. If he truly felt his philosophy could not work with rex. He should have passed. The jets were un cap hell... They were, but it was not some insomantible task, like all teams that making strong pushes for championships you have some bad contracts when you go all in. Cutting sanchez, pace, cromartie and Holmes cleared out almost 30 mill in space. This idea that if it wasn't for idziks cap genius the jets wouldn't have been able to play because they couldn't have worked around the cap is insane. Lol Drafted terribly... This lets wait and see doesn't fly.. His whole concept was to amass draft picks and find guys that would have an impact on the team.. For the most part he has failed miserably for having so many picks. The injury excuse. yes injuries happen but when you draft players(milliner) with a history of being injured guess what happens they keep getting injured.. Mcdougle, The idea this guy was going to be some huge impact player is all a guess. He's another guy who of course got hurt. He hadn't played a college game in nearly 2 years. He probably could have been drafted in the 7th round. The frustration you see when having these discussions is, anyone who still supports idziks ideas are, your arguments are look what he inherited and hypotheticals... He stuck with Rex, cap nightmare, injuries, this guy was gonna be great if that didn't happen etc.... The reality is... Here the jets are at 2/11 . It's not a good 2/11(if there is such a thing) your not watching games saying wow. Look at all this young talent. Develop a little more and we got something... The jets are going into 2015 needing a head coach, qb, and praying to draft well this time as compared to the last 2 drafts where we have not . Like someone pointed out earlier our quality players are just gone be 3 years older.. It's a bleak situation.. I don't think there a coach out there that thinks going into the3 rd year under John idzik the jet job is a promising one and a simple fix. We're going into the 3 rd yeat and basically are at square one of rebuilding.
This was not a decent draft. We had two first rounders and got one guy worth a damn to show for it so far. Millner is like a TV Pilot, maybe he becomes something, maybe he becomes nothing.
Not true at all. Football is a passion outside of NY, in fact it is bigger many places on a relative basis. Go look at Cleve, Wash, the current dysfunctionality at SF. Idzik's act wouldn't fly anywhere give a 2 win team that has botched the "QB" part of its rebuild and had 2 poor drafts.
This deserves a penalty flag. There needs to be evidence of a "strong foundation". What the Cowboys did to their offensive line, netting 3 quality starters in 3 years is evidence of a strong foundation. Idzik has not done that at all. He did the easy part, shed the money. Yet today, in the opinion of any legitimate independent expert, the Jets have a weak foundation.
WHen you want to understand a post here that quotes another poster, it helps to read that post. You apparently did not. The post I quoted was crediting Idzik for the fact that Smith started. Next!
We are back to the drawing board for QB. We have a weak offensive line. We have an awful secondary. The only thing that is better an 2012 is the cap situation, which most of the posters on this board could have solved, that's the easy part.
In 2012 we still had Sanchez and Cromartie. They would have filled some rather large holes that our new GM created by cutting them loose.
First of all Aboushi has not been impressive. But about the quoted part, I do hold it against someone who picks players with histories of significant injuries and then is surprised they keep getting injured.
Too true. Cutting players and not replacing them is an easy way to get room under the cap. Why Idzik is supposed to get huge credit for that is beyond me.
Lol idzik brainwashed the whole board at one point i remember any suggestion i made about signing a player people would say shit like "Thats not smart. We'll build through the draft" or when another team made a signing it was "______ got overpaid", or "lets snag _____ on a one yr deal" all BS!!! Everyone swore this man would be the jedi draft god and he's not. He's not a "numbers" guy bc he isn't signing anybody to great deals. Anybody on this board i bet could release everybody from the team and not sign anyone then brag about having so much cap space they have... yeah thats a sexy number when your 2-11 huh? wanna know what other teams have alotta cap space? the bums that don't have any quality players thats fighting for the top pick. We had a perfect oppurtunity to turn this team around starting this year and we didn't do it. Idzik sucks. Point blank period.
