You really buried the lead. Revis is a whore, but look where the team he's on is in the playoff standings. Must be nice to have your cake and eat it too.
Coming from a guy who zeked jets69 as a username. That's like calling shotgun on the way to the whorehouse.
That team also has elite talent at QB and TE with just as much talent as us at WR. I hate it too, but Revis wouldn't have made us any more than maybe a 4 win team at this point in the season.
As far as a "foundation" to build on we don't have that ,but we do have peices on offense and defense to build around if that makes sense to anyone .We have no winning culture we are just a bunch of losers and that starts with the GM and Coach
It's easy to cut players. Finding replacements is where Idzik has failed. He has signed players to new contracts that cut into that cap room rollover argument, and other than the marginal case of Decker, can't think of anyone who is a good building block going forward. But you really did not say a single thing about why you think he will make the right moves on a going forward basis. He's made too many mistakes to have that sort of confidence in him. And the key measure here is not a single Idzik supporter here predicted that this would be an even worse year than last. Did anyone say this season was NECESSARY to rebuild the team? No. Those who are sticking with Idzik now have no cred. That includes you.
Oh, critics of Idzik like me certainly recognized there was such a risk. But did you predict this would be a worse year than last? The team is in worse shape than when Idzik took over.
This is just flat out wrong and embarrassing. I don't know how anyone can take you seriously or how you can even take yourself seriously.
Who? Harvin? Harvin has no more guaranteed money and if they can get him to restructure he's a great addition. Otherwise, they can just cut him. I didn't say I think he will make the right moves because I don't know if he will. I'm not "Pro" Idzik or "Anti" Idzik, I'm just giving him what he deserves: an "Incomplete". He has not made very many mistakes, even the Geno pick is a nice case of fans thinking in 20/20 hindsight. At the time there was no question that the Jets should take a risk on Geno Smith. Of course even Geno might have turned out better had our coach not plugged our starter into the 4th Quarter Preseason game.
lol, and you actually have the audacity to believe that and think people who don't hate Idzik yet have no cred. How is this team worse than the 2012 Jets? Please enlighten me.
Ok so I'll chime in here too. I think JI has the right approach to building a franchise. Perhaps the holdovers in the scouting dept can be partially blamed for some of his draft blunders. The jury is out on many of his so called mistakes. Pryor playing out of position is on Rex, not JI. Milliner and McDougal injuries, well that's the football gods in action. Please don't site Sanders since no-one could have predicted he'd suddenly develop a seizure disorder. He did ok in trading for Ivory and harven...disagree if you want but you'll not convince me otherwise. He did on in FA with Decker and our RT dude, Vick and CJ not so much but at least adequate. Where he really failed and disappointed me to the point where I lost trust in him was in his competition edict. I hate a hypocrite and that is what he turned out to be on this issue. I think Woody gives him another year. Hopefully he'll revamp the FO/CS, and allow come competition rather then favoring his draft picks.
Predicting it is irrelevant. I've acknowledged it was believed to be a realistic possibility and Idzik supporters were willing to accept it. Predictions are parlor games for people who want to pretend they have some sort of tangible and reasonable ability to look into the future. I don't play prediction games. The team is in worse shape ...this year, which again was an inherent risk Idzik supporters were willing to accept. But we are in good position moving forward . There is nothing about this poor season that reflects that Idzik supporters were wrong in their support. All the criticisms you are bringing up were acknowledged ahead of time.
This was probably said already but Idzik did have a plan. The only problem is that his plan sucks balls. BTW, I don't believe the elaborate scheme to get Ryan fired story.
Idzik supporters did not predict he would have a second shitty draft in a row. My point about predictions is that I do not recall Idzik supporters talking about there being any significant risk that this season would be anywhere near as bad as it is. Now, though, at 2-11, we're supposed to believe it's all going according to THE PLAN because you claim there was always such a risk? Really? How about you're just making excuses when neither you nor anyone else thought it would be this bad? How about it's just a simple case of saying "Well, things can get better!" without saying why we should expect them to? As for good position moving forward, that is highly debatable. The Jets are worse at several positions, have two poor drafts in a row, do not have next year's starting Qb on the roster, and have key players another two yearss older. It would take a number of great moves to take this hand and make it a winning one, and you have no reason to think it LIKELY, not just possible, that Idzik will do that. As I said your metric for him is far too low. You accept mediocrity and worse on the hope he will do much better when he has no track record to justify that such hope is realistic. In short your position lacks credibility.
