Rob Ryan? WTF? Love Winston as a player but not as a human being , the kid's a head case. I can see a "name" GM and letting him hire "his" coach. I'm thinking it'll be a coordinator. I heard Schefter on Lupica today and Lupica is telling him that we HAVE TO reach out to Polian, and does Schefter think he'd be interested. His response was he thinks he would if it was a package deal where his son would be in line succeed him when he's done. I know his kids in the league but i'm not up to snuff on what he's doing? Thoughts?
the story is polian let his son handle the reins in indy and irsay wanted him gone. thats why polian was let go from indy. i don't know how true it is, but if the kid needs daddy to set him up instead of earning a position,well........
I'd love to see Harbaugh jump on board, but I just don't see it happening. He'll most likely be on the west coast next year in either red N' gold or perhaps in black N' silver
Why must there be a member of the Ryan family on the staff in every 2015 scenario I read, you people are crazy
I'm starting to sour on the Hardbaugh scenario with each passing day,Kapernick has regressed this year and the team just isn't the same. They have one of the most deep and talented rosters in the league to and there not getting it done.Maybe a change in timezones will be good for him but who knows
Why because a talking head told you so?His wife wants to stay on the west coast ...nothing but leverage for more money .I can see Rex becoming the Raiders head coach before Hardbaugh
I can honestly see the Redskins making a play at Hardbaugh to revamp RG3s carrer and firing Jay Gruden.
If it's not Mariota...then I wouldn't draft a QB until round 3. Jameis is the next complete and utter bust. The next Geno Smith if he somehow even finds a way to stay out of trouble. Mariota is basically a taller Russell Wilson. I'd take that in the top 5 any day...the Jets need a QB like that. For this reason...he'd be best suited with coaching that is used to mobile QBs. Such as Seahawks and/or 49ers. Harbaugh would be an excellent choice but I doubt he comes here. I'd say Dan Quinn or Darrell Bevell are the best shots. Idzik might stick around and he knows these guys. Plus with Dan Quinn...the defense would still be intact. I would also consider drafting a CB in the first or seconds rounds. There's alot of good Free Agent WRs this year....hardly any good CB options.
I support the HC but no to Rob Ryan My Heaven and Hell scenarios Heaven : Harbaugh as HC, Norv Turner as OC, Marriota as first pick Hell : Norv Turner as HC, Rob Ryan as DC and a CB as first pick
I only think Mariota will be. Winston is honestly not what the Jets need. The Jets need a turnover free QB. Jameis throws way too many interceptions....I get the fascination with Jameis' athleticism and arm, but Geno had that too. Plus you're talking about adding all that drama and the possibility he gets in trouble. Jameis doesn't seem like he's very smart. You could even debate that he's a top 5 talent (which I still don't think)...but even then....you have to factor in his background. Players with top talent often fall when they have criminal history...Jameis isn't worth a top 5 pick for the risk he brings alone.
Jaemis has an enormously high football iq, something Geno did not. And don't you ever compare Geno to either Winston or Mariota. And there are many factors that are falling into Winston's high turnover rate this year but what about last year? He threw 40 TD with only 10 INT. Not to mention Mariota and Winston play in entirely different offensive schemes. Mariota is very good but don't be fooled by the offense he plays in. And I don't want another running QB. Say what you will about Winston but he is a pocket Passer that knows how to read defenses. I can't say the same about Mariota.
Winston is 20 years old. He is playing in a pro style offense. His interceptions are high this season because he doesn't have a big receiver to throw to, but he is playing in a pure pro system. There is no lag when transferring him to a pro system when drafted. He has a lot of experience already playing in one, something Mariota does not. He is pure clutch. Say what you will about him, but he wins and he knows how to perform when his back is against the wall. This year has proved that. Last year's National Championship game has proved that. He is simply put, a clutch QB. He is also a pure leader. He knows how to take control of his team and control of the locker room. Yes, his off field issues need to be fixed, but so did Cam Newton's and I'd say he came out pretty good. You can't teach leadership and the natural drive to win, Winston has that and more. I want a QB who knows a pro system and is a pocket Passer. I don't want another QB coming from a high Completion offense with dual threat attributes. Mariota isn't Russell Wilson. There are very few, if any, Russell Wilson types. This is a passing league and you will not only be asking Mariota to completely learn a new system, but you will be asking him to eliminate a HUGE part of his game to succeed in the NFL. I don't want that. I want a proven Passer with the drive and leadership ability to win and take over the offense. That's Winston. A physical specimen, experienced in a pro offense with a tremendous fire to win and be a leader.
