ROFL, if the offense could have mustered some first downs....7 of Seattles drives were under 3 minutes.....none were over 7... But hey, you've thrown just about everyone else under the bus
he played fairly well in the 1st half, he played poorly in the 2nd half when the game was over. I'd rather a QB make bad decisions in garbage time than when it matters. Last night's INT was the first that could be a killer INT.
1st drive of game: 10 plays, 6 1/2 mins. Must have been the O's fault. drive including allowing 3rd and 15 conversion Philly then gets ball at their 8- great FP against a horrible D like Seattle, right? then the fumble and Philly scores then Sea goes on another 10 play drive to tie it up- includes 3rd and 8 conversion as well as 2nd and 16. Seattle had 6 drives of 8 or more plays.
Junc, only 2 of his interceptions have come with his team down by as many as 20 points, of the others only 1 came with more than 2 scores down and in the first, 2nd or 3rd, quarters. Make excuses.
only one was a killer. at least 2 of the INTs were not his fault, others they came right back and didn't hurt them. the one last night they were still in the game w/ enough time to come back.
and 7 drives were 6 plays or less, 6 were 5 plays or less, 4 were 4 plays or less. of the 6 drives that were 8 plays or only 1 was more than 10 plays...context is everything Junc....
If we're not going to count interceptions that "weren't his fault" then you have to count the interceptions that should have been picked off but weren't. Doesn't matter what the final result of the game was, what matters was the situation at the time because you don't know what's going to happen next. Any pick with the game within 3 scores in the first half or within 2 scores with more than 5 minutes to play is critical. If you still win despite turning the ball over in those situations thank your defense....
Why? Just because no one has won in Lambeau since 2012 means that the Packers can't be beat in Lambeau? really? hell, just mail the game in and stay warm in the hotel then. do you think a team with a good QB says "we're out of it" down 17 in the first? They may not win, but they don't fold like a paper cup either.
then we have to count all the drops he has seen too including a couple of would be key 3rd down conversions, also should have been called penalties like the deep ball in the first half.
During picks this week I was asked why I picked the Seahawks if I am such a big Mark Sanchez fan? I said because I know Mark Sanchez. That was a bad match-up for him. The rest of the Eagles did not help much either. I think they have a great chance of defeating the Cowboys this week and taking over the NFC East though.
But then we have to take off the passes where the reciever made a great catch on a ball that was poorly thrown. this is Exactly, that's why we keep the interceptions that "weren't his fault" just like we don't keep the dropped picks or passes.... In other words the "pick wasn't his fault" argument doesn't fly because it's balanced by the picks that were dropped in the overall scheme of things.
This thread was dead after that thanksgiving game and the beatdown Mark and the eagles gave the Cowboys. A shame because I enjoy debating this topic. its come alive again, but as Sanchez and the eagles most likely perform well for the remainder of the season, it's going to get quiet again. we'll have to resume this discussion if the eagles get eliminated in the playoffs because certain people dont like checking in when Mark is winning. My guess.
Eh, I gave Sanchez Kudos after that game and said he played a good game, the only argument that was going to come after that game was if they wanted to say he sucked.
There really should be no argument or debate anymore with Mark Sanchez. He is not a Top Tier QB and he is not a Bottom Tier QB. He is pretty much in the middle. Just as most of his supporters have said since 2010ish.
hew as never great and never will be but he's a guy you can win w/ as long as he has the pieces around him. there are supposed much better QBs who can't win even though they always have top tier talent.
In my humble opinion, I rate Brees, Brady, Manning, Rodgers as the only elite. No need to explain why they are on this list. Then there is the franchise superbowl worthy caliber if surrounded with proper weapons category of; Stafford, Sanchez, Manning, Flacco, Rivers, Kaepernic, Wilson, Palmer, Rothlesberger, Romo, Cutler. All have shown the ability to either pad up the stats, win the big one, or take their team deep into the playoffs. Then there are the Hoyers, Geno's, Orton, Mettenbergers, Hill's, Schaubs, etc.
