Coming in to the game Seattles defense against the pass ranked #19 in Completion percentage at 64.2. Yards per game #3 at 199 allowed in the air. Tied for 3rd in TD's allowed, #21 in interceptions, and #27 in sacks. So 98 Yards Passing...almost half of what Seattle allows per game this year on average. 50% completion rate, 3 sacks (the Seahawks only had 20 coming in to the game). 1 pick (seattle had 9 coming in to the game). Reality is Sanchez led a top flight offense to not even close to what is an average game against the Seattle defense, and in this case I'm talking average as to what Seattle allows and not league average. Is that all on Sanchez? Nope. But Sanchez needs a running game to be successful, he's not a QB who can carry a team when the running game isn't working. The team scored exactly 7 points on drives longer than 14 yards. Yes he only had 20 pass attempts, and I'm sure some will say he should have been allowed to pass more, but the reality is a large part of why there were only 20 attempts was the team had only 9 first downs and was 2-11 on third downs. And it's not like the Eagles were only running, they only ran 22 running plays compared to 23 passing plays (including the 3 sacks), technically 24 passing plays and 21 running plays if you count the scramble Sanchez had as a passing play since it was a drop back where he scrambled due to pressure. The reality is the Eagles only ran 45 total plays because they could not get first downs and the Seahawks ate the clock with a TOP of 42 minutes compared to 18 for the Eagles. Is it all on Sanchez? Nope, the Seahawks definitely dominated the eagles running game holding the Eagles to 57 yards on the ground, and remember I have ALWAYS said wins or losses are almost always a team stat. the Seahawks dominated the Eagles in just about every facet of the game, which wouldn't be a surprise if the game had been in Seattle but they got owned at home. I said if the Eagles won 3 out of the last 5 I'd give Sanchez kudos, he's 1-1 at this point, which isn't bad as it's 1-1 against teams over .500 and 2 of the last 3 games are against teams under .500.
Defense wins in the end. I kid about Rodgers but this will be impossibly hard, even for him. Seattle is going to win out here. They will have to go to Arizona and win but, I will roll with Seattle there, they are the champions, they have the championship mindsight, they know what needs to be done. They know what is on the line.
Did u hear Aikman after, said Montana couldn't beat them today. Seattle is just dominate again. Simple as that.
Well as predicted he had an OK game. The force to Cooper was unnecessary given how much time was left in the game but against the #1 defense he was alright. I think he's under the lights again next Sunday night. If he flops Foles returns.
And lastly, not rain on the Packer parade but didnt San Fran pretty much push them around the last two years? Didnt the Giants go into Lambeau and just mug them? Seattle has that same formula, and is better than those teams were. It's really setting up for something big championship weekend.
As with the other Eagles games, Sanchez didn't lose it and he didn't win. He was there made some good plays, made some bad plays, and the Eagles lost. This is probably exactly why PHI needed from him. Just keep them alive for the division and playoffs which they are
OK game? He was absolutely atrocious, #1 defense or not. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. The Cowboys are going to win next week. The Eagles are frauds, most overrated team in the NFL. Seattle exposed them, Green Bay exposed them.
Difficult game for any QB to handle. His running game was non existant and to pick apart this seattle D without that running game wasn't going to happen. Overall he did ok, bonehead interception, two nice td passes, but the narrative of this game was the sheer awesomeness of this seattle team, not Sanchez. They're getting hot at just the right time and Aaron, Peyton and Brady wont be stopping them. They impressed me more than any other team so far.
Could have sworn a certain someone was just claiming Philly was going to win the SB. Now it's Seattle
If Nacho was half as clutch, and a team leader like fan boys say, they wouldn't have been 2-11 on 3rd down. If you can t run it on 3rd down, you Qb must make a play. That's why they are picked in the first 5 picks of the draft, and paid big money. That's why they are the leaders on offense. Handing it off on 3rd down is not leading the team. It's called participating. Throwing incompletions on third down isn't leading. What would Aikman know about being Joe Montana? Aikman wouldn't have a freaking clue. Aikman played behind the greatest offensive line in football history, and arguably had the best running back, and one of the top 10 receivers of all time. Joe had Jerry for a while. Aikman has no idea on how to be Montana!! Get real!! Not even arguable!!!
im serious. What is it like 3? And last week they were caught arguing and you can overhear Cooper saying Sanchez called something else. On the next play Sanchez beamed him with the ball while he wasnt looking on 3rd down. I'm not saying Cooper is to blame, it's just funny that if im correct when he goes to Cooper most likely its going to be an INT.
are you seriously looking at rankings? Seattle was not good earlier in the season, they are GREAT now. stop w/ the excuses. Seattle played great, Mark didn't have much helped and had a mediocre day.
The question is, is Mark starting next week against Dallas? It seems like Fole's is about ready to go.
