Strangely enough, Raiders probably just screwed us over with their win

Raiders were the front-runners for the first overall pick until they just beat the 49ers. Because of the strength of schedule tie-breaker, they dropped all the way to last among the 2-11 teams. Now this is probably irrelevant to us anyway, because we will most likely beat the Titans next week, and all these other terrible teams (Bucs, Titans, Jags, Raiders) will keep on losing. But it would've been better for us if Raiders were picking first. They don't need a franchise QB as badly as Tampa and Titans, so if the Jets threw enough stuff at them, we might have gotten the first pick and our QB. But now, both the Raiders and Jags (the other team with a young QB) are last, and the QB needy teams (Tampa and Titans) are front-runners. Don't see those two trading away top 2 picks when Mariotta and Winston are available (unless Winston rapes/kills somebody before the draft). Jets luck...

Your post is based on a bunch of assumptions. We suck, but we still have a ways to go to see if we suck more than everyone else.

The key is to lose to the Titans and either 1) pray TB falls in love with Winston or 2) pray that TB wins 1 more game (very unlikely).

In order for this to have been a problem, we would have had to be 4th behind Oakland, TB and Tennessee, and there's no way we were trading up from 4 to 1 anyway

Chill bro we still control our own destiny for either Mariota or Winston...simple...just lose out and we will have a top 3 pick as raiders and jags aren't taking qbs...in a perfect world is losing out and the bucs winning 1 game would be awesome but doubtful...beating the Titans would screw us for sure

First off I don't want to be throwing "enough stuff" at anyone to move up. If we get at QB great but if they are gone then we get a stud WR in Cooper or an OT.
Second you seem a little over confident we beat Tennessee on the road, when we are an 0-6 road team. Have you watched the Jets?

Trading up to get a Qb is almost always a terrible idea. Just look at the Redskins.

Plus, we can still draft first overall if we play our cards right.

You couldn't post this in the 5 other lose out threads? You guys are more depressing than the Jets games.

Tampa will beat Carolina next week.

    Why?

Because it's the NFC South, that's why!

I have watched the Jets, every game this season ( :( ), and other than the Chargers game and the two Buffalo games, we were in every game. These other teams (Bucs, Titans, Raiders, Jags) are BAD bad. Every week i root for them to win and yet when I see the scores, they are usually down big. The only hope with the Titans is that Geno continues his good Geno bad Geno roller coaster next week, and the Titans get pissed about getting blown out by the Giants, but I certainly wouldnt be surprised if we won.

A lot of NFL front offices won't even have Winston on their draft board, because of the character issues. Tampa and/or Tennessee could be in that camp, so if you really want Winston it might not matter.

We lose to Tennessee.. Jacksonville beats them week 16.. we're set in at #2.

The Bucs could win a divisional game as the NFC South has proved to be a huge joke. There's a chance, but I think we likely end up at #2.

For the love of god I hope we don't choose Winston... I hope his ass stays in Florida and goes to Tampa.

Why are people so sure titans take a qb? Their defense is horrible I could see then drafting defense.....we should get Mariota or Winston

I've watched almost every game he has played in college, as well as almost all of Mariota's games, and I would take Mariota in a heartbeat. Winston's play is up and down, a lot like Sanchez. He can get away with that with Florida St. when most of his fellow teammates are All Americans who often outclass their lower-tier opponents at every position, but in the NFL Winston will be exposed quickly and often against strong competition. Mariota is much consistent and makes better, quicker decisions, hands down. He is strong in the pocket, doesn't throw interceptions, take needless sacks, and is careful with the ball.
