If the coaching marketplace opens for business in 23 days, isn't it imperative that the Jets have a General Manager in place before then to assure the new GM hires the Head Coach? In the absence of a change very soon is that an indication Idzik's not going anywhere? Or is it an omen that a coach will be hired and another new GM will have to work around that situation again?
Idzik and Rex fired on Monday Set up interviews for GM have one in place by the following Monday Start coaching search Honeymoon period begins Honeymoon period ends after day 1 of free agency
As long as Woody and the Jets brass have their act together then it shouldn't be an issue if they wait until black Monday to start their search for a new GM. Yet that's a big assumption to think that they actually have their shit together and already have an action plan in place. There's also the scenario where they hire a big name HC (Harbaugh) and make him HC/GM. However, there's no candidate out there today that won't be available on black Monday IMO. The most concerning part to me is trying to figure out how dire Woody thinks this situation is and how much urgency he has in wanting to fix this thing. If he takes his slow ass time and just puts more band-aids on the gaping wound that is the leadership of this franchise then it will just be SOJ and many more years of suckage.
We have plenty of time. Depending on who is looking for a new coach, some of the possible new hires will not be available until after the SB in February, or at least until all the play-off teams are finished playing, mid January. Hard to believe, but yes they do play games after Christmas...I read about it on the interconnect.
I'd only be cool with this if there was absolutely nobody with any long term prospects available to take over. That said, I don't trust Woody to accurately reach a conclusion on that, one way or the other.
Every time I see this stupid suggestion I laugh my ass off. Polian is in his 70s and wasn't even running the show in the last few years he was with Indy, his idiot son was. That's why their personnel selection went into the toilet.
Black Monday will be a sad day for all of us. The end of the most promising era in Jets history since Joe Namath was in his prime, a missed opportunity to get another Super Bowl championship. Likely the best coach we will have in our lifetimes came and went without being able to break the curse of the NY Jest. (typo intended)
best coach in our history? Just go away please, it's obvious what your agenda is here, an it's getting old
