Their own success might not last, but we will see. In the big picture though, Esports is growing faster than baseball in early 1900s, basketball/NFL to.....In 10 years they all might be a lot richer than they are now.
Ive heard PewDiePie make anywhere between $4 million to $18 million. Hes a cashcow for Youtube, so they will pay him whatever it takes to keep him on Youtube. Because eventually another site will come along and challenge youtube, and they will pay the youtube stars to switch over. So these guys are only gunna get richer, especially if a youtuber competitor comes along. Youtube will have to pay its people more.
I don't disagree, call them professional gamers it's just as good. If you play a sport professionally by my definition you are an athlete...these guys aren't athletes they are just very talented gamers which requires skills but not necessarily athletic ability. Like poker. Poker isn't a sport, but it requires skill and you can have professional poker players but they aren't athletes.
They already coined the term esports which I think is fine. I must admit, watching a capture the flag game in CoD is pretty damn exciting. Its like watching a game winning drive in football.....
It is pretty exciting. There also seems to be pretty crazy momentum swings in games like CoD. DOTA is a bit more of a grind, honestly watching a full hour of a matchup can be a bit boring, but the tactics and combinations people use and stuff is pretty interesting. Plus there are over 100 characters so you sort of always see something new.
This is just depressing. I always loved games growing up. I've owned nearly every system put on shelves. Once I got into my 20s I started finding it difficult to care though. Now at 26, the want is there, but not the desire. I wish i loved gaming again, but it's really just all the same shit to me.
I played it a bit, mostly just the tutorial and bot matches because people online are judgemental douchebags and if you aren't a complete pro who knows exactly what to do in all circumstances they give you endless amount of shit or just leave the game which makes it difficult to learn.
Yeah, some Counter Strike players just got banned for life because they were caught using hacks ahead of a huge CSGO tournament. I think the grand prize was $150K There was also a big DOTA event where a player on a team bet real world money against his team and won $322. That's why if you ever play or watch DOTA streams you'll see people constantly referencing 322...basically just means someone is so bad it looks like they are throwing the match.
Well it depends what kind of games you like but I would say some of the storytelling in games is better now than it's ever been and they are obviously more immersive and cinematic. A game like The Last of Us is mind-blowing in it's story telling, acting and just the graphics in general, just having a game that makes you feel things is weird. A game like Skyrim is so epic in scale you can play it for years and not see and do everything and taking down a dragon is just so satisfying no matter how many times you do it. Games like GTA5 offer a lot of variety of things to do and see. But if your games are mostly Madden, racing games and CoD then there have been improvements but it's more or less the same stuff. Some genres have declined IMO like JRPGs, RTS and MMOs while some are basically new like MOBAs (League, DOTA, HotS, etc.) and the Telltale games like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games which are essentially choose your own adventure stories are pretty cool. So, while I don't blame you, depending on your taste there are a lot of options out there for you to draw you back into gaming.
I know games have gotten better, and have great stories, but unless I'm playing a childhood game like Mario whatever, or Madden, it's just been extremely hard to get into it.
haha sorry...Japanese Role Playing Games like Final Fantasy type games, Real Time Strategy games like Warcraft or Command and Conquer, Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs like World of Warcraft or Everquest, and Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games.
