Hmmm, I don't think it's possible for a TV to be "stupid". Someone purchasing an "over priced" one, however...
but this coaching staff almost certainly isn't going to be here next year - at this point I hope they play well (and maybe get some good performances out of some young guys) but lose
I could never root for the Jets to lose. I want them to win out and the Giants to have a worse win loss then the Jets. It would help me deal with all my Giant fan friends. I know that sounds selfish. But that's how I am. And yes I have been a fan since Namath also.
You need to understand that all your Giant fan friends are probably 3rd generation Giant fans so the blue blood trust fund cushy lives they thought they'd have was drank and pissed away by their overindulgent douchebag parents or lost in the financial crisis and they are just blue collar fans of a fraudulent fiction of an ideal. They're envious of your true fandom because you've felt the pain and depths of failure-as a football fan. But you've also lived that life and you'll survive. And prosper. They've only known coddling and prep school and entry level BMWs and even that weak sauce gravy train is coming to a crashing halt. You should pity them as Rodger Goodell's voice booms over the loud speaker to a thunderous round of applause "And with the first pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select..." _
For me at this point it's indifference - nothing more, nothing less. This season just feels like purgatory at this point. I will watch their games, but they'll be more background noise than anything else. There's nothing compelling to make me watch with any sort of enthusiasm. For me, the only real question that's left to be answered is whether Idzik gets canned as a result of this train wreck, everything else is a foregone conclusion...
Why aim so low? Wouldn't you rather have a QB that can go 32 and 3? What about 30 and 7? 39 and 8? What about 45 and 6? Oh, that's right, Aaron Rodgers is a fraud.
You're right dude. These last 20 years of following the Jets is false. I am really a 49ers fan. All that money on jerseys, tickets and memorabilia from eBay wasted. I'll come up with a round number and you can pay it.
I dont understand why there is such a divide between who wants us to win and who wants us to lose. The idea of having someone on this board call you a fake fan for wanting your team to do what you think is in their best interest to better themselves does not resonate with me. I have been actively rooting for this team to lose for a month now. I was thrilled when we blew it Monday night. I was actually irritated when they beat Pittsburgh. Fake fan? I would make the argument that I am rationale and that the whole organization needs to be cleaned out - 2-14 almost guarantees this and that is what I want. The end goal is higher picks in a year like this. I realize the draft is a crap shoot - but trading the second pick in the draft for a kings ransom is not a crap shoot, it is a very real thing that we may have at our disposal. It is something that can set this franchise up for years and would make me ecstatic. Fake fans? I Dont really care if someone has an opinion of my fandom and what I want to see the Jets do. Because I certainly would not be interested in telling others that their short-sighted views dont really look at the big picture. They are not seeing the forest through the trees, their wants for this team are basic and I think they are wrong....but entitled to their opinion and their way of following their favorite team. Sometimes the hard thing to do it the right thing to do. Cheering for the Jets to lose is extremely counter intuitive - but it is the only logical thing to do if you are going to be a fan of this team going forward. I want them to lose every game the rest of the way. I see close to zero value in additional wins for 2015.
I ALWAYS root for my team to win. But in a situation like this I can rationalize the losses because I see the silver lining of a better draft pick. I don't get upset win or loss. Except for the last loss - that game plan was atrocious and embarrassing!
6-10 and drafting 16th overall? With no qbs available from the 1st half of the first round until the 4th? Aside from the unrealistic situation, that you present, the following teams have starting qbs which they didn't draft in the top half of the first round: Bears Broncos Browns Cardinals Chiefs Cowboys Dolphins Eagles 49ers Packers Patriots Saints Better draft position is good, and I would like it. But it wont damn the franchise. Oh and if you haven't noticed, this board has trouble with nuance.
It will damn the franchise because in my nuanced world, this is the year to get a true franchise QB that can be our Brady/Manning/Rodgers/Luck. I'm not saying he's anywhere near their level but I believe he'll be a top 5 QB for a decade. After the top 2, I don't believe any other QB in this draft or foreseeable next drafts are top 5 NFL QBs. That's just my opinion. And my comment about taking a developmental guy in the 4th doesn't mean there are QBs that wont be drafted. I just don't think any of them are any good and no matter how much you "develop" them I don't think they'll be anything more than backups or journeymen. As an example, I never thought Locker or Ponder or Gabbert were any good. There isn't enough development in the world that would make them serviceable, never mind great. I really don't think Hundley is going to be very good. A more athletic Andy Daulton comes to mind. Grayson reminds me of Kellen Clemens. Bryce Petty does not impress me. But I'm just guessing. They all may turn out to be studs. I just don't see it. Look, there is always a shot that a later round pick surprises and everyone loves to throw out the Tom Brady anomaly or the Tony Romo anomaly. But for every Tom Brady and Tony Romo there are thousands of QBs that melted away into the ether. I just don't buy the "developmental" QB mantra. To me "let's pass on a potential franchise QB at the top of the draft and pick one in the 4th to develop" is passing on a better gamble for a wasted pick. I look at Big Ben and the Mannings and Flacco and Rivers and Rodgers and think we gotta get that stud--and this year it's at the very top of the draft or not at all. We're not getting a Rodgers at the end of round 1 this year or Flacco in the middle of the first. And there is no QB on the horizon I feel is in his class. Last year was the year to take a QB because it was IMHO stocked with very very solid talent deep into the draft. Something that hadn't happened in a very long time. 2013 was the worst year in memory to take a QB anywhere in the draft. But again, I'm just guessing, as are we all. _
