A management source says..... According to the management source.... A West Coast GM says.... blah blah blah blahblahblahablhablahsdlkjvzxjcvlhsdaf
Well that's just freaking peachy lol I don't really get why Marty would have a problem with it now though? He RAN the freaking ground and pound offense last year. And whoever said Decker was a #4 receiver knows nothing about football.
You're not the only one. I said the same on another thread a few weeks back, until it was pointed out both were announced the same day. The selection process began before Idzik was announced and many questioned why we were looking at hiring OCs before a GM was in place, I think that's where I got confused. It's probably a stretch to suggest that MM was Idzik's hire, but presumably he must have been on board with it once he agreed to take the GM job.
There's a lot of anonymous sources in there I don't know how I feel about a lot of the article, however I am sure there's still a decent amount of dysfunction- there has to be for a team to be this bad. I will say that the players are in for a rude awakening if this organization hires someone who keeps order. They have gotten a big pass throughout this mess. People are fed up with Rex, fed up with Idzik, but there has not been a lot of backlash towards the players. There should be some. Especially when I see quotes like the ones about Decker and Idzik. Shut up and play better.
I could be mistaken, but I remember the press conference where Woody and Rex introduced john Idzik and Woody was very specific about the roles each man would have and he said Rex would hire the coaches. So that being the case, if this notion that MM was having differences with Rex is true, because Rex wanted G&P and MM is using the WCO, then it's more reason to fire Rex. After 30 years in the NFL and going up against some pretty good offenses, you don't know the type of philosophy that the guy you hire is going to employ? then get mad at him for using it, it's a joke and again speaks volumes about the lack of ability of this man to be a HC. I have a bad feeling about this off season, I don't think we are going to like it as fans. We expect moves that a well run organization makes after 4 bad years, this is not a well run organization and I think our jaws are going to hit the ground when the off season starts. JMO
we can argue back and forth but for the last 4 years of diarrhea, theres only been one constant. Rex Ryan.
You are definitely right that Woody said that, I think it was the delayed end of season press call with Woody and Rex. Went something along the lines of GM picks players, HC picks coaches, but it's a collaborative process. I suspect Rex got the G&P philosophy he wanted with Sparano and was basically forced to move on when that proved catastrophic. That Rex clearly still wants this sort of approach is just another reason why he needs to go.
Sorry to say it but this is true. The only thing I would add is the constant rabble rousing, stir-up-the-pot nonsense that gets its way into print. Its as if our wonderful beat writers are creating a narrative and do their best to perpetuate it. But yes, Rex is the constant. It makes you wonder, however, if a new regime would be treated any differently, since there's so much mileage to be had in playing up the "Jets Circus" narrative.
