I enjoyed watching Salas on that end around and thinking "that s.o.b.'s gonna score!" and I also liked the idea that the Jets were putting their best foot forward on national TV and putting another dent in the Dolphin's playoff plans for the 2nd year in a row. But at 2-10 I'm also not going to get up on a ledge and harangue Stokes about it either. The man wants his Mariotta and he's not getting him with a 3 or 4-win team. It is what it is. Beat Minny.
and you get better players when you make the right decisions on draft day not according to where you draft.
That's all a bunch of bullshit. There's no "learning how to win" or "losing mentality". That's fairy tale, made for TV crapola. Teams with the better players win and to a lesser extent, teams with the better coaches win. Where the Jets are sitting right now, winning the last 4 games and finishing 6-10 for example would mean jack squat in terms of how they play next season other than hurt their chances for getting better players. It would be forgot about by Monday, December 29th. Look at last season, did winning 3 of the last 4 games help the team learn to win going into this year? It worked wonders to keep Geno Smith out of the "losers mentality" right? The momentum from that strong finish sure carried over when they lost 8 of their first 9 games to start the year. Again, fans should just blame the league for rewarding the worst teams with the higher draft picks and the Jets organization for being terrible this year. Fans shouldn't have to feel like its better to lose but the way the system is set up and the situation the Jets have put themselves in is exactly that place - better to lose.
The only game my dog wore his Jets shirt was the Steelers game. He thinks we should lose out and dump Idzik. He also misses fat Rex and thinks Sanchez is a dick. His least favorite Jet is Willie Colon. He doesn't see the downside of starting Simms the rest of the year. He likes it when I read Junc's posts out loud in a Jamaican accent.
tell that to the Jets from 1996 to 1997. we had a ton of talent on the '96 team and won one game. you do learn how to win, w/ bad players you aren't going to but teams do learn how to win and usually they take their lumps before they actually do win.
I just stopped giving a shit. I don't even celebrate when they make a good play at this point. I'd rather see a win, but knowing as much as I do about this team and the clusterfuck from top to bottom, I have no faith that they will do anything right. And this includes whoever they end up drafting next season. Rex will be fired and Idzik may be, but I have no faith that Woody and his high-powered team of typewriter monkeys will accidentally type War and Peace this year or any year. They will hire another unqualified GM/HC combo who will draft whatever QB gives them buzz and the back page, and we'll watch that QB turn to shit over the course of 3 or 4 seasons. Rinse, repeat, until Woody Johnson dies.
Im talking real game situations like last week, possession at the end of the game with a chance to drive down the field, this has been a losing organization for far too long, we need organizational changes not a higher fucking draft pick, one player is not saving this franchise.
actually until very recently we have been a very good franchise for a long time. how soon people forget.
To the guys saying they want to see us lose so we can get better players, who are you targeting? In other words, who are we losing for? Is there a Luck, Elway, JaMarcus Russell, one in a lifetime, can't miss player out there? I'm not seeing anyone worth tanking for. So just admit it - you like hating on the team.
Oh so you think maybe a Marcus Mariota wouldn't have helped drive down the field and score? And this isn't even about Mariota. You don't think BETTER players all over would have put us in a BETTER position to win? Jag shit players could have LEARNED how to win? That's a made for TV movie dude. _
I don't know whether or not we will learn how to win with these last four games or not, but we will learn a lot about the type of character the players on our roster have or don't have and that's much more important than winning the final 3 games. Richardson as of right now is getting an A+++++++ from me in the character department.
Thats exactly what we need, a whole new scouting department, either fire Idzik or allow him to completely clean house.
Of course better players would have helped but thats a FRONT OFFICE issue not a draft pecking order issue.
