absolutely, not a doubt about it. He and the pass O won a ton of games for us that year.

2010 was clearly Marks best season but you have to realize at his best he was never close to a top 10 QB.
He was ranked 17th in QBR with a rating of 49.2..miles away from Phil Rivers who was in 10th with a QBR of 63.7

Pretty disrespectful to the rest of the QBs in the league to say Sanchez was ever top 10.. 17 tds to 13 interceptions in his best season..give the Sanchez trolling a rest

QBR is meaningless, Rivers had top ranked O and top ranked D in a weak division and couldn't get his team to the playoffs. Stats tell part of the story, Mark made plays to win games. Rivers is not a winner, he's a stat guy and too many fans rely solely on fantasy stats to judge.

Our O-line was top notch in 2010,as was our defense..remember Cromartie and Revis? They were pretty good. All Sanchez had to do which you should know is be a game manager. We had nice WRs in place back then so he could make a few throws but a lot of those games we let him get comfortable ended in multiple picks.
Rivers is/was a premiere QB and absolutely a winner. Some things didn't work out for him in the post season but there's not a single thing Sanchez can do better than Rivers.
Sanchez was a turnover prone game manager, Rivers is among QB elite and you know that.. No need to debate Rivers vs. Sanchez here its a joke.

Ol was good no doubt, D was good no doubt- so what? we still needed a good QB to win, even great Ds(which we did not have) need good QB play to win.

there is, it's called making plays to win. it was on display in the 2009 div rd at SD where Rivers had the much better team at home and was outplayed by a rookie QB.

There is nothing elite about Rivers, one of the most overrated players I have ever seen.

He was the ultimate game manager...totally accurate. Its not going to be a winning battle. All I can tell you is let it go...Sanchez was a top ten qb? You got it. Sanchez started to suck because the talent around him sucked? Deal.

Rex Ryan was the best thing to every happen to this franchise? High five. The Jets are loaded with great ex coaches?..Herm Edwards too right? Friggin A OK.

He was like a cooler, heterosexual Mark Sanchez.

Junc...At one point we ran 47 times,to what 9 pass plays?

And yes, Geno can run..but not like Vick.

If that was your game plan going in, Vick > Geno.

    Not even close.

    13 pass attempts. 3.3 ypa.

Junc, you could have produced a better line than that.

Idzik married himself to Smith, that is the story of this season.

That's why they went back to him last night.

    On Deck, Geno Redux....

    Jameis Winston.

Check in with me in 5 years when the Jests become a relevant franchise again.

A Jets veteran told Metro on Tuesday that with the move back to Smith, management has “packed it in, waived the white flag, whatever you want to call it.” This player reached out to Metro again on Wednesday to clarify that the locker room hasn't quit on the season.
“I wasn't trying to say that we've quit, that any of the players quit. I don't think any of us have quit in this [locker] room,” the player told Metro. “But it seems like those above us, they've quit on this season. You can't do that. Players need to make a living, get stuff on tape, play for that next year. But it seems like that isn't important, that winning this year isn't a big deal to them anymore. Like they're already looking at 2015 and beyond. Maybe they felt that way earlier this year and stuff but I don't know.”
He underscored that his remarks to Metro on Tuesday “weren't about us [the players] but a sense that the men upstairs have moved past this year. Like they've turned their backs on us.”
There is one unifying factor in the locker room right now that guarantees that the team won't entirely quit. That factor is 'Rex.'
“Man, let me tell you something, Rex still has our hearts in his hands man," the player told Metro. "He still gets us fired up, he gets it. You can tell that he's doing his best to put us in the best spot to win, but it feels like he's fighting that battle alone.
“You see him here, late night. I heard he's here until the early morning hours. Sometimes you're here at this facility early for whatever and you see him in the hallway like 'The Walking Dead' or something. He's still putting his all into this team. I don't think anyone in here is going to quit on him or the fans.
“We're going to fight and do things the right way here as much as we can to the bitter end, no matter what the world says.”

Looks like it was Pace or Harris who said this on Tuesday. Still surprises the fuck out of me that the team loves Rex so much and allow the Bills to look like 2013 Broncos TWICE this year

If Mark didn't have one of the lowest QBRs or if he had a good one you'd say it's an essential statistic.

As a San Diego Chargers fan, I completely agree about your Rivers statement.

He guided us to the playoffs, but Rivers breaks down in the playoffs. He just kind of plays flat and uninspired when it comes to crunch time. Never been crazy about him. I'll support him because he's my QB, but I'm curious about the upcoming draft in a year or two to see if we pick someone up. Rivers would be a great mentor, just didn't have the nerve. Hope that changes this year if we make the playoffs.

How jealous was I when Sanchez and the Jets came to San Diego back in 09 and beat us in the playoffs.

    eg...
What good is it to have Alex Rodriguez, with all those padded stats if he disappears in the post season?

This game is about winning and making plays to win which he did quite well here and is continuing in Philadelphia. I don't care about QBR or any other stats w/o context. did you know Ryan Tannehill has a comp % of 70 or above in something like 5 or 6 straight games? have you watched him play? he kept us in that game the other night, after a mostly great game in Denver he threw the critical INT that ultimately cost them the game. Stats tell part of the story.

Rivers is a #s guy, that's it. He'll look great at times in the reg season and melts in postseason. The only title game you guys made w/ him came after he got hurt and Volek led the team on the GW TD drive in Indy in 2007.

Mark didn't put up great #s at SD 2009 but he had about 3 huge plays that were key to us winning along w/ Rivers melting down. we won w/ D first that year no doubt about it and the D was great at SD(in part thanks to Rivers) but you can't win consistently w/o good QB play.

I've been inclined to call out these types of posts in the past, but I wholheartedly agree. Why does this franchise seem to never be able to develop and retain quality talent. We then have to go on and see these cast offs have sucess with other organizations. SOJ

    Hugh Dougless
    Revis
    Mike Pettin
    James idibegho
    Sanchez
    Abraham
    Penny

These are just a few guys off the top of my head. I know other teams have this issue as well but the Jets always seem to find a way to either wast the talent they have or pick up guys past their prime. Just a very depressing season and I hate to see Rex go but it's time
