Don't sleep on them, I am convinced they can win the AFC. I think they are going to have a big year (12 wins or so) and push the Broncos in the AFC West race (they might actually manage to win the division but regardless can overtake them in the playoffs if it comes down to it).

They played a lot of close games last year and Phillip Rivers had a real bounce back year. I don't think they added any major pieces this offseason, so they would need to keep the offense how it was and get the defense better and more consistent.

Their offense, when working, complimented their defense and team really well. They tried to cut down on possessions in a game and basically limit the game by having a ball control offense that didn't make mistakes and executed for touchdowns. They had 23 less drives on the year than the NFL average, but led the NFL in yards per drive, 2nd in points per drive, first in plays per drive, first in TOP per drive.

I don't know if they can keep that high efficiency up another year. They were able to use their offense as a defense last year which doesn't bode well for playoff success but can work for regular season success. I like them as a team and have them as playoff team if I were to predict today.

I believe that their defense will be better, and the run game will improve even more. I have A LOT more faith in the Chargers to come up big next year rather the Chiefs who IMO will be taking steps back.

I like the Chargers, they're certainly going to be better than the Chief's this season, hell the Raiders might beat the Chief's too, but this team has a history of coming up short in big games in recent history. Not sure if it's Rivers', Norv Turner, or just team collapses, but something has always kept them from seeing their true potential.

It was Norv Turner, the guy had a boatload of good players when he took over in 2007 and he never did anything with em. McCoy may be able to turn em around.

If the Chargers see the Jets in the playoffs - they won't win just like the other 2 playoff games :D

I dunno. I think the Jets are better. Rivers is over rated. Chargers aren't winning the AFC. They might squeak in the 6th spot at 9-7 again if the Jets can't win 9.

I think the Chargers win 12 games and get the #5 seed. Jets take the 6 seed and probably take a trip to Indy in the first round while San Diego will be going to the winner of the AFC North (who I believe right now is going to be Pittsburgh).

They'll go as far as Rivers takes em..season like he had last year and they probably earn one of the WC spots. Season like 2 years ago and they win 6-7 games.

I do expect KC to take a big step back this season though.

Watched their preseason game against the 49ers, the defense looks pretty good. They were all over the place forcing fumbles, getting pressure, covering receivers.

I believe they are winning the AFC West this season.

    Good win by them today.

They head to New England next week, lets see what these San Diego Chargers are truly made of.

They actually host NE. I think they'll beat NE, giving Denver the first seed in the AFC.

...agree with you on this 100%

LOL, I even remember a quote by Rex when they asked him what would have happened if he got the job instead of Norv.
He said he would have won a couple of rings. While I don't think that would ever have happened with him, I do think that every other coach around the NFL was wondering why that team didn't take it farther then they did.

Interesting that they host em, if they had to go to New England they would be entering hell, but who knows, I think they can beat them at home.

And yes it would give Denver the top seed but the Chargers play the Broncos the week after so that might determine the top seed at the present time.

Matter of fact if the Chargers beat the Patriots they would share the same record and the Chargers would have the tie breaker. The Chargers have a chance to take command of the AFC over the next two weeks. Its a tall task but both games are home.

We might get the win, but overall I wont get my hopes up if we make it to the post season. We're chokers in the post season.

    We'll see how it goes.

Hold on there. While you're now down playing the Patriots you also just referred to them as one of the top defenses, i.e. when you brilliantly stated:

    - "Aaron Rodgers is a fraud."
    - And that Rogers "shits the bed against top defenses….just watch Sunday" (referring to NE)

So now this team with the great Brady & co. with "one of the top defenses" is now just a middling team that Rivers beating wouldn't amount to much?

Flip-flopping weasel speak with forked tongue.
