The pod race could have been cool if it was one long race through dangerous no man lands with the racers getting attacked by sand people and other creatures and being in real danger rather than being the Nintendo 64 game it was clearly designed to sell products for.
Trailer coming Friday. Really want to see this.... its almost been 10 years since the last movie. Crazy.
If this is as bad as Abrams' effort with the Star Trek franchise, people will be yearning for hour long pod races.

They were terrible. Unless you go for buddy flicks, because that's exactly what they were. I won't even bother to get into the blatant rip off of the Spock death scene from Wrath of Khan. And I'm not even a Trekkie. They were just bad movies. JJ Abrams is a fucking hack.
It's worse than that. I'm guessing you didn't see Star Trek: Into Darkness. They completely ripped off scenes from the early ST movies. We're looking forward to ripping off scenes from the early SW movies (which are intended to be "nods") in what are supposed to be climactic scenes. Get ready for much bullshit. Abrams is a hack.
Into Darkness was bad but I liked the first one. But I'm not a Star Trek fan so nothing in it offended me. I think Abrams will be fine, but Brad Bird was their first choice and that would have been great.
The first one just set the trend for the buddy flick stuff. The cast did a good job of pulling it off, but there was nothing substantial about it. Star Trek was like a moral story saga from beginning to end, this was an action movie with young hip kids doing young hip things.
Trailer looks like the graphics and detail already blow away episodes 1-3 (which were complete shit). Episode 1 being the only decent one of the new 3. Anyone who liked episode 2 or 3 has zero grasp of acting or creative detail.
One thing is certain John Williams still is the most awesome at giving us goosebumps with this score. And there may be plenty of dizzying moments with that camera angle on that Falcon. I liked the teaser, I'll take it for now...I assume the Girls guy Adam Driver is the Sith there...I am just happy we have future Star Wars movies, just hope they are good
I liked episode 3, episode 2 was poor though. I still cant believe that they are making another trilogy, Lucas was saying for years that it was officially done. Now I firmly believe we will get all 12 movies which was the original plan I believe?
I thought there were originally nine. But in any case, I liked that trailer. Looks promising. More promising than the prequels, at least.
