Didnt Phillip Seymor Hoffman receive praise from the critics for his role in The Master? After Hunger Games there isn't any more PSH films coming
Yes, MASSIVE critical acclaim. By folks that are faux-intelligentsia, stuck up holier than thou with an air of elitiest douchebaggery. The type that thinks comics in The New Yorker are funny and that Terrence Malick is a genius. That movie sucked but critics were blown away by it. Seriously, watch it and try to get through it. Hated it. HATED Phoenix. And I've like a lot of what Hoffman did. _
I can understand why Hoffman got praised for his role in that film. That doesn't mean the movie was any good, though. I dare you to watch "The Master" and enjoy it.
The Master was okay. As far as art house films about troubled veterans, I prefer Jacob's Ladder. 6.5/10.
Intersteller is up this weekend for me, im excited for it. If its as good as Gravity I will be satisfied
Saw Interstellar last nite. Holee Cow. Riveting movie, very thought provoking, great score, incredible visuals. Really edge of your seat stuff for the last 2/3rds of the film. 4 cameos I was not expecting. Btw, see it in IMAX or RPX. It's deserving of that medium. _
Also saw Snowpiercer Friday nite on DVD. Decent post-apocalyptic film, a different take on the class warfare theme. Reminded me a bit of that movie Brazil. _
Saw Hunger Games Mockingjay yesterday. Not bad and a nice lead into the final story whenever that comes out. Donald Sutherland of course is the evil President Snow and he really seems to be enjoying the role. JLaw is still the conflicted Katniss and most of the characters do return from Part 2. Don't look for any oscars out of this one though as its pretty much a straight line towards the finale. Even the special effects were just ok. I can see this one going to DVD before Valentines Day 2015.
