He is incompetent as a head coach. end of story. Sorry to be blunt, but that is my strong opinion on this man. We agree to disagree.
Geno was a lot better than Vick was on Monday night. He has pressure on him to play well. Any more zero Qb rating and he is finished with the Jets. He's not the only young Qb whose been terrible but statistically the worst. We'll see if he can handle the pressure and how much he wants to have an NFL career. It's a smart decision to start him on Monday.
I think Rex is hoping he gets fired, sooner the better, and he must really hate Idzik by now. Why is he protecting Idzik after being setup to fail? Rex needs to ask for his balls back when he leaves.
He was in mop up duty in garbage time. The Bills were playing prevent and giving all the short shit. Some of their starters were already pulled. Geno is shit, just like Vick!
Buffalo was playing soft coverage by the time Geno was playing. Let's see how he fares on Monday. I don't think our 2015 qB is on the roster.
Rex is playing politics right now when he defends every decision the FO makes. He's no fool so he won't burn any bridges for a while. Now when he writes his NEXT book, all bets are off..
I can just see it now: "If we'd hired Dominique Rogers-Cromartie I'd still be Jets head coach." Never mind that the Giants hired DRC and Tom Coughlin got fired...
The thing is - If DUMB ASS Rex didn't put Sanchez in in garbage time of a preseason game, he doesn't get hurt and probably replaces Geno half way through last season and would still be on the roster - probably beating out Geno in training camp. I was never a big Sanchez guy but having Geno back up Sanchez, would have been far greater than having Vick collecting a check and not wanting to be here to back up Geno. So in essence Rex forced Geno on himself by his own stupidity.
Ugh, more Geno I'd much rather see Simms in there, that at least might make me wanna actually watch the game on Monday. I'm assuming Geno is auditioning for his backup roll for next years campaign?
Honestly this sums it up. Rex does certain things as a head coach really well. He gets his players to play hard. He comes up with great defensive schemes. What he doesn't do well is the common sense shit. Sanchez was the clear cut choice and never should have been out there. He constantly wastes timeouts in the 2nd half, and usually on some stupid defensive thing. He NEVER overrides his offensive coordinator, when I know for a fact that Rex is the kind of coach that wants to run the football down the other teams throat. For some reason though he lets Marty run gimmick plays on the 2 yard line on 1st and goal. He blitzes on 3rd and 15 when the other team is setting up a play to counter a blitz. He plays prevent defense in the 2 minute drill EVERY time and allows TD's to end the half constantly. Rex has made the fatal mistake that tons of coaches have made, and that's that he forgot that not only do his players need to get better, but he needs to get better as a coach. It's really a shame because Rex had (and still does) have so much head coaching potential, but he just hasn't been able to overcome his own flaws over the years.
agreed...... but at the time I saw it as Rex trying to put the "QB competition" to rest after seeing Geno stink it up. Unfortunately it backfired and blew up in his face in a major way.
One would think the people trashing Geno might have noticed that Sanchez got trashed to hell and back here and is now looking good as the starter in philly. I think the coaching here is the problem, not Geno.
