I think that Pettine is too busy with his team and with winning to be a part of this shit. But you're spot on about MM making things up. Of course his rag of a newspaper encourages him to do it. As for Rex believing that Idzik is out to get him. Maybe it's the other way around.
spending to the cap max and restructure over and over? THATS a good plan? Tanny is that you? that seems like a really poor way to build, especially if you have questions at QB and no access to a SURE answer at that position. (developing Geno/Vick/ rookie= not ready for prime time). then you're just spending wildly in a year where your not fit to compete. just signing every big name you can willy nilly is not a necessarily a winning strategy. you don't spend just to spend, that init of itself is not a winning model. you'll just wind up with poor value contracts that bog down your ability to make moves in the future. If you're a GM you can't JUST have a myopic mindset, you HAVE to mind your teams future thats a big part of your job. If you screw things up too much NOW you hurt your teams FUTRE and your out on the streets. when your a team like denver or new england with an AGING elite QB of course you go max cap, you're on the clock. but otherwise its best to be flexible with your cap situation if it all possible. idzik could have done better but not spending to the max was a sound move, I'm sure we'll see that next year and next when Idzik (or his lucky ass replacement) can keep Mo and such AND sign free agent talent with room to spare.
Because you gave him a chance and he didn't make the playoffs. I was fully in favor of keeping Rex, but by keeping him, he hitched himself to that wagon. I think he decided Rex was the best coach he was going to get and people liked him. But no coach in his right mind is coming to work for a lame duck GM if he gets another year and Rex doesn't. There's no way we'll get anyone worth a damn to come into that situation. Rex has lost this team, but I'm actually on board with one more year of Rex and Idzik because I think people severely exaggerate the negatives of Idzik so far. And if you keep Idzik, you keep Rex. Just my two cents and I know no one agrees with me.
Seriously? Then . . . what is your point? What are you arguing? You're all over the place. You emphatically defended Canizzaro's article as credible and logical. Either you think Idzik left $20 MM on the table to deliberately sabotage this year's team or you don't. If you don't, then what is your point? Ok, so you haven't heard an explanation for why Idzik left so much money unspent. Cool. But, if you aren't arguing that Idzik deliberately sabotaged the roster by leaving 20 MM unspent as part of his plan to replace Rex at the end of the year (Remember, Cannizarro is suggesting that Idzik's plan was to replace Rex all along), then what the hell are you arguing? Why do you have such a bug up your ass about the 20MM, in the context of, defending the Cannizarro article? I think there is a happy balance between being overly aggressive in free agency and being overly frugal. I think the prudent approach is somewhere between that of Tanny and Idzik. Regardless, I never wrote that I liked Idzik's plan or that I believe him to be a particularly competent GM. I only wrote that there were logical defenses of his plan that didn't involve him sabotaging the roster and Rex's chance for a successful season (Which, you are now claiming not to believe, anyway) Ok, cool. But, what does any of this have to do with the logical coherence or ultimate merit of the Cannizarro article??? You are very critical of many of Idzik's decisions as GM. I respect that and even agree with some of your points . . . but, none of this seems to be particularly relevant to assessing the ultimate veracity of the article we were discussing.
I hear all the time from a lot of Bills fans about how bad our GM is, but god, you guys got the worst of the worst in Idzik. I may be a rival fan, but what happened with your team this year was a disgrace to your fanbase if Idzik is the true culprit for what's happened. And if that really is the case, you can't help but feel sorry for Rex. He did some good things for the Jets and I respect the guy. I may sound full of shit, but I hope things do turn around for your team
Well if we're going to go with conspiracy theories, you may as well start here. What possible reason could the Jets beat reporters have for wanting to get the near-invisible, tight-lipped and taciturn GM fired over the over-the-top, larger-than-life rent-a-quote Head Coach? Not saying it's true, but as we seem to be playing the game this is far more likely than deliberately sabotaging a season to get rid of a Head Coach. Apply the principle of Occam's Razor - the theory with the least moving parts is generally the place to start.
Yep. Follow this to it's natural conclusion. Ryan will stay at his home, right in Florham Park, and go right to TV, maybe...maybe not.... Maybe he's saying he'd like to wind up right back in MetLife as either the Vagiants D.C. or H.C. Wait and see.
Time for the circus to leave town, tired of hearing this guy spew manure just for the sake of hearing himself talk, bye Wrecks
The principle of Occams Razor? What did he shut the lights off and try and shave his ballsack in the dark?
You have always struck me as unreasonably arrogant and not half as intelligent as you seem to think you are. This is confirmation of the laughability of your posts.
Its kind of disgusting and typical Jets... in a draft where 15 teams got stud WR already producing... we whiffed on our biggest position of need by faaaaar... not to mention Decker is doing far below the other quality FA receives... it sickens me watching all the other guys produce while we lay egg after egg
Rex always goes the high road and never trashes or criticizes the organization. He just lets all of his leaks do the dirty work for him.
