No idea how good he'd be as a head coach, but I loved the cut of his jib. A man I could happily support as HC.
lol huh? is he even our problem? The guy pulled a hammy give em a break. He had more receptions in the first 6 games than any jets WR has finished the season with in the last 3 years.
If I'm Woody, based on his man-crush for Rex, I make him the HC/GM (ala Belichick). I make the cap-savvy Idzik my director of player personnel (ala Pioli). Then give them three years. Rex loves this team/city/fans. Anything else leave too many questions. This move removes all doubt about his abilities.
Definitely a guy you can get behind but there's no way he'd sniff an interview with anyone besides ST coach.
I think the basic problem with the 2014 Jets is they are an undisciplined, soft team with a pedestrian inept offense and a predictable defense. For the D, how many 3rd and longs have they given up over the years? Rex always brings the house and teams know that and make him pay. He never adapts, its like a badge of honor for him to bring the house. Its crazy. Same thing for the offense. They still play to not lose the game, never on the attack. Always ground and pound and when teams score on them or shut down the run they have no way to respond. So in addition to new coaching staff and new GM: Offense: OL: Needs a youth movement. Draft at least 2 potential starters. This is the most important goal of the draft. QB: Let Vick walk. Keep Geno as a backup. Bring in 1-2 young pocket passing QB's with experience. Jake Locker, Kirk Cousins, Austin Davis. These guys didn't work out for their current teams, but they are better than Smith and a change of scenery and some maturation could bring improvement. Locker never had the skill position players to support him and Cousins throws a ton but just needs to mature. If you draft a QB, keep him on the bench. RB, TE and WR: Keep as is. There is enough talent at these positions that with better OL and QB play these guys should perform much better. Defense: DL: Keep the line intact (with Coples back on the line.) LB: Second to OL, the position with the biggest need for a youth movement. Replace Harris and Pace. Secondary: I'm torn on this one. Walls and Jarrett have been playing pretty well, and if Milliner/McDougle come back healthy, with Pryor and Allen you have alot of young guys that have either been through the gauntlet and showed they can be players or some high draft picks that need to come through.
Brilliant! So we waste another decade (because three years of Rex as HC and GM would take 7 years to clean up) for you to learn what many of us already know. Sad, very sad. SMH
I would not keep Lal. He has turned the Jet receivers into pansies. And when you are talking about a new coach, or even a new GM and coach, all coaches presently on the roster are probably gone. OH wait, this is the Jets we are talking about. Woody always likes to keep some friendly, if incompetent, faces around.
OMG what U saidf in 100s of words U could have said in 4 Woody sell the team. After that occurs then U can start debating the whose & why that the team needs
Really guys, Woody isn't selling the team so lets just stop with this nonsense. Neither are the Wilpons so if you're a Jets & Mets fan, please consider drinking as an alternative to suicide.
