Woody would much rather go thru a employment service than consult football people. I'm pretty sure we'll wind up with yet another first timer that has to take several seasons to learn to barely do the job he was hired for.

Step 1: Check my bank account, smile.
Step 2: Research, research, research. This pick is very important. If you go Marcus, make sure you can believe Rex (or whoever the HC will be) can groom a young QB and if Marcus isn't ready, have a veteran QB. Same thing with Jamseis too. Research, research, research, do not miss on this pick.
Step 3: Have a solid team next year

Start with demoting Idzik to salary cap manager or firing him. Firing Bradway and firing Rex.
Idzik has improved our salary cap since he took over, but has set back our rebuild at least 2 years. Our defensive talent is atrocious outside of a few defensive lineman.

Anyone trust him to do better with 6 picks than he did with 12? I trust some of the guys on this board more than him. Richardson must have been sheer luck

Sadly...Richardson was a Ryan guy... Ryan may not know QB's but he sure knows D-Linemen... Oh well....

There must be 14 points to improvement.

Any Woodrow needs 14 points (and needs to avoid a Georges buggering things up).

I don't think it too long. As you said, the Jets have a LOT of problems. You can't lay out a plan to fix those problems in 3-4 sentences. It's sad that people have such short attention spans these days and can't or won't read anything of length. They cheat themselves. I don't necessarily agree with everything you said, but overall, I think you did a good job. The major change I would make if I were Woody Johnson, is I'd fire myself from any decision making regarding the team. If I didn't trust Idzik, I'd fire him, hire a proven football man to run the team as President and let him hire the GM, then the new GM determine the fate of the CS.

Not sure about the 14 points. Maybe we should just leave the NFL and join the League of Nations

BTW 2 points each for references to WWI, Fourteen Points, Woodrow Wilson and Georges Clemenceau

If I'm woody I fire everyone in the organization and Pick up my phone, call bill (parcells or polian)

Offer him a comfy salary and the keys to the entire organization. They have final say on scouting talent, draft picks, contract negotiations, roster moves, and selecting coaches. Hope he says yes then I fade into black and watch as parcells or polian turn this franchise into a winner and respectable team...all the while giving every single jets fan HOPE and something to look forward to

There's no quick fix. Jets will suck for 5 years at least.

Total housecleaning is in order, especially with Bradway being shown the door followed by Rex & Idzik.

Love the idea of DeCosta as GM, but if not him it needs to be a TRUE football guy, not a glorified accountant.

Cut Johnson & sign Ray Rice to compliment Ivory once RR is given the green light to return to the NFL.

Redo the deals of Harvin & Brick, but draft as many OL as we can, along with a top FA signing in this area depending on who's available.

No way I want Winston, I just don't trust the kid, so i'm for keeping Geno and bringing in a hold the fort guy who can actually play.
Certainly don't want Griffin if he's cut loose but Cutler has always been a guy that intrigues me even though he's a hot mess.
I'd only go with Cutler on a 1 year deal though, and that's probably not gonna happen.

I'd go with Mariota with the 1st pick, then Cooper, then a blue chip OL in that order, depending who's available when we pick.

As for HC, has to be an offensive guy to groom the rookie, see if Geno can be saved, or get the most out of the vet we sign to hold the fort.

I don't subscribe to the Gruden & Cower crap, i want a fresh face along the lines of what Philly did with signing Chip Kelly.
I'm not a college football guy so i'm not gonna name names, just get someone who can make the transition to the pros like Kelly did.

    Let Harris walk
    Upgrade the TE position
Sign some CB's that are actually CB's, and not some guy that's on IR more the the field.
Get Pryor back to playing his game and see if the kid is the real deal.

Best chance of fixing this team is sending Jim Harbaugh a blank check if he leaves the 49ers.
Would be a 180 in coaching styles, hopefully the players respect his system and resume or GTFO(besides Sheldon, Mo)
Very rare chance we can land him but top 3-5 coaches in the game rarely hit the open market..Seeing what he did with the similar situation 49ers and at Stanford backs up the fact if he decides to listen to the Jets offers pay the man whatever he wants..Woody's making enough money and it's not like it goes against the cap.

Harbaugh won't get the job because he's been a HC before and Woody never hires people with direct prior experience in the job they're hired to do.

    1. Fire everyone; complete house cleaning. This first step is a no brainer
    2. Hire a legit football guy as the new GM. I dont know much about GM candidates admittedly, but Idzik sucks and needs to go
    3. If you can get Harbaugh, get him. If not seek out one of the top college coaches, Gus Malzahn, David Shaw or Kevin Sumlin as the head coach
    4. Hire Mark Trestman as the OC if he gets fired from Chicago which is highly possible...Talk to Brent Venables, the defensive coordinator of Clemson and see if hes interested, talk to Westhoff and see if he'll come back as the ST coach.
    5. Keep Percy Harvin, look to sign another big name, reliable possession receiver, get rid of Decker
    6. Cut Vick, keep Geno for now, sign a reliable stop gap QB on the cheap. Hoyer, Schaub, Bradford, McCown, Cousins/McCoy, Palmer, Fitzpatrick are all options to explore
    7. Draft Mariota if you possibly can...If not draft offensive line

I like it. Not sure if we have to go college route if we whiff on Harbaugh but it's too early. Trestman as OC would be great. Not sure about Venables but definitely has a nice resume at Clemson.
We have at least one more year of Decker. He's not making enough to prevent us to make other signings and we have the option of cutting him after 2015 no penalty.
We're in QB Purgatory and it sucks..I agree get rid of Vick, sign your stop gap to let Geno compete with, and still draft Mariota(maybe Winston) if available. If we don't take QB hopefully it's because we couldn't pass on a blue chip prospect hopefully OL, Cooper or Gregory.
