If Rex leaves for any reason he's probably going to go to network job at least for a season or two. I'm guessing just about any of the networks would jump at the chance to give him an opportunity. They're trying to sell their product and Rex is a great salesman.
Well written article. Nice read. Not sure if it is completely true, but there is definitely more going on behind the scenes than we are told.
A lot of pro sports coaches go to TV because it's an easier lifestyle. Can Rex be entertaining in that sort of a situation. You know kind of like what Bart Scott is doing on CBS now. He's gotta be better than Bart. But you never really know. He's a great interview but can he be a good interviewer.
The big question would be why he didn't get a new coach at the start of the year if this were in fact true. edit: oops, should have read the first page where jetsclaps says this.
The stories are coming thick and fast now... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
So why would Idzik not allow Rex to talk about Buddy. It makes no sense. Give me the rationale. Remember last year when Rex was criticized for going to see his son's game at Clemson before the season started: there was no hush up on that and Idzik backed him up. Boy does the press or a few members of it hate this guy and loves Rex.
I don't think this is significant. There are several reasons why it would not have made sense to fire Ryan after last season. Don;t you recall all the hype about him winning especially the Miami game, how the players playe up for Ryan, all that sort of thing. How then to turn around and fire him anyway?
Completely agree with this. He'd be perfect for a high paying, low stress booth/studio gig. I could see him doing that for at least a year to recharge, then jump back into a DC/HC gig.
Look we all agreed two years ago that under Tannenbaum the Jets were a circus with embarrassing leaks and all kinds of stupid stuff. So now that this door was at least for awhile shut these guys like Mehta are going ballistic and trying to get Idzik fired.
I want Idzik gone as i believe he grossly miscalculated, but i don't believe he intentionally sabatoged. this article is based on hearsay and cites no sources. it's akin to teenage girl gossip, "i heard from a girl who heard from another girl that so and so said.........."
Did not Coach Ryan just go on the record in saying "the problem with this team is not the talent level"? If so, what is the problem, Coach Ryan?
The reports are all over the place now. Idzik fires Rex, Woody fires Idzik. I beg Woody to sell this team to an owner who knows football and respects the game. And here's a question: Where is Neil Glat in all this mess? Does this turkey have his head in the ground? As "president" of the NY Jets, does he serve any purpose except to expense expensive dinners? He adds nothing to this organization. He says nothing to the fans. He certainly is not involved in correcting this mess. Fire this idiot, too.
Other NFL coaches quaking in their boots cause Rex is coaching the Jets? Ha! Is this article from the Onion?
Yes he did, and here I'll have to contradict my last post kinda by saying he's just kissing ass when he says stuff like that. Or that's just Rex trying to take the blame before media gets a chance to bash him.
Mark Cannizzaro has been covering the Jets for over 3 decades. He knows his stuff. I like how some of you attack Mark, Cimini, etc......some of you weren't even BORN when these guys were covering the Jets and they follow this team 24/7 for months at a time...you guys READ about the Jets for maybe an hour or two a day. You want to give me your opinions, fine. We all have them. But don't trash the messengers giving us behind-the-scenes FACTS -- and opinions -- based on their veteran experience. Quite frankly, they could wipe their ass and come up with more Jets stuff than some of you could regurgitate.
ok I have been saying this for awhile if Idzik planned this all along he sabotaged the season he should be fired. Look it up I even tweeted out to woody. For the fans he should be fired. The best and first interest of any team should be the fans without us there is no support and idzik either through stupidity or pre-planning did this he should be fired
Unsourced quotes are not facts. And as a fairly intelligent reader, I can aptly intepret what Canizzaro writes as I see fit. Being a beat reporter does not give him more intelligence, football knowledge or a better opinion of the Jets or anything else.
