So I'm definitely not traveling up the NYS Thruway tomorrow night, what time will the snow end? I assume the Thruway will be plowed pretty well, so I can get on the road as soon as it stops. Any estimates as to when that might be, again coming from Long Island heading past Albany.

Thanks for this, if it wasn't for you I might be trying to head up right into a Thanksgiving Miller A nightmare. You're truly doing great work that has a direct affect on people's lives and safety and I can't thank you enough.

That is really so borderline but if you take into account traffic for this Wednesday starting so early, I would do it from home if possible...around noon could be a real problem brook.
Next update will be around 6pm. Nothing has really changed and I will probably stick with whats there now..but update times and post maps..radars from then on. This story is written except where the snow line that will stick fast starts...there lies the million dollar question between 5" and 10".

The thruway from NJ/NY border up until about 40 miles from Albany is where the biggest snows may fall.

Set the alarm for early morning Thanksgiving and just go FM. I would think it would be over from west to east starting at 11pm west and 1am east..the latest. I would think the thruway will have everything under control by sunrise the latest. This will be an easy clear..even those that get a foot for snow plows..no ice underneath..shovels? That's a different story...will be a few heart attacks...oh and thanks for the kind words...appreciated sir.

lol..thanks FJF...have to tell you..that may all sound good but this storm has me very confused. One side of me wants to say the cold air will win the day and 8 to 12 for many but...I don't know...really tough call.

Heres the main deal...northwest of the center of this storm..lets say when its eye is located east of Virginia Beach...somewhere around NNJ...Hudson Valley..a good 250 miles from the center...heavy banding will set up and I will show you this on radar tomorrow..it will happen between 3 and 6pm..and where that banding sets up, the heavy snow along with the lift will make temps for that area..which could be 100 miles wide and 50 miles long..a big area..it will make temps get into the upper 20s..and that area will get clobbered.

WHERE? Pin the friggin tail on the donkey bud.

AND WOULD LOVE THE UPDATES...LOVE THEM.

49 degrees in Wayne and needs to get to 38 or 39 when the storm starts here to have a chance at bigger numbers. If the storm starts and your temp is lower 40s, that is the first sign that too much needs to happen to get the big numbers. When the storm starts, temps will fall on average a degree or 2 an hour..so that by 1pm temps need to be around freezing.

fjf..brook...cbg etc...just checked out the temps in PA and NY state..and they are dropping well ahead of schedule. Got a feeling that these crazy models that put out high numbers might be on to something. 7 to 12 for many west of I95 might just be correct.

we are at 41 right now jay, we are going to be plenty cold enough when this kicks off.

just thought, 6-8" of wet snow may be enough to snap limbs and lines, i am going to give the generator a little exercise tonite, and hope i don't need it later

that's something we haven't even touched on..and its very possible...very. Great point FJF.

Im beginning to think your area goes even higher then that..perhaps 8 to 12" bud.

Jay when you talk about West of I95, where is that? I95 in Jersey? It goes pretty far East as soon as it hits NYC, so I'm confused.

Cman...you are the bubble with the bigger numbers because of the more south and west location. 4 to 6?

    39. dropped 2 degrees in an hour. based on what your saying about the temps, i think we are looking to be on the high side of all predictions. temps are already lower than tomorrow mornings predictions. hudson valley is about to get bombed.

FJF..Completely agree...these temps dropping now like this..now they SHOULD start to moderate with cloud coverage increasing..but still...the high numbers on the predictions will be hit for many..if not all.

Just posted on my site..the NAM came in with much colder temps..this was always a problem on how to call this storm..now its a problem for other reasons.
