FERGUSON, Missouri----KMOV-TV reports that the majority of stores that were damaged or completely destroyed during Monday night's violent riots in Ferguson were minority owned. Fire Departments around the St. Louis County Area put out 25 structural fires caused by vandals and looters following the announcement from the grand jury that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson would not be indicted in the death of Mike Brown. Most of the damaged businesses were on West Florissant Avenue and included: Walgreens, Little Caesers Pizza, Autozone, Beauty Town, Title Max, Family Dollar Store, and O'Reilly Auto Parts. Small-business owner Natalie Dubose was in tears when she realized her cake store was attacked by vandals. Dubose, a mother of two, previously told CNN, "If I can't open my doors every morning, I can't feed my kids in the evening. Just don't burn my shop down, don't destroy it."
Good question. Clearly something else. Even if we don't know what; even if we're in no position to second guess; even if he's not criminally responsible for homicide, someone was killed in an event that began with a cop yelling him about walking in the middle of the street where there didn't appear to be high traffic volume. That result shouldn't be okay in ANY neighborhood.
If Brown doesn't attempt to assault the officer he probably doesn't get shot. Has nothing to do with what neighborhood it was.
If you put it that way which eliminates numerous facts then it does seem like an extreme over the top response but when you add to that the fact that Brown was grabbing for his gun, punched Wilson numerous times and then after heading away turned and started back towards the officer in an aggressive manner, then it changes the whole situation.
Honestly reading the beginning he sounds like a pussy but if its true he grabbed his gun I can understand why he fired at him at first. After dude ran away assuming the officer had a taser, he should of deployed it on the suspect instead of shooting to kill a guy who was clearly not acting or looking normal. Ima usin Tapatalkie.
He already had the weapon in his hand and in the heat of a situation like that there probably was not time to holster the one weapon and pull out the taser. Doing so may have resulted in Wilson being killed.
This is exactly why I'm so pissed at these idiots in Ferguson. Not only did they riot, they're destroying the very support systems that make their neighborhood livable. It would serve those "protestors" right if this woman packed up and left along with the owners of all those ravaged stores. These morons even attacked the liquor store. Now what do you think would happen if the liquor store closed up? Some of the National chains may be able to absorb this kind of loss but those small business owners? They're screwed.
First I want to start by saying I'm a 26 year old white male. what is happening in ferguson is a tradegy on multiple fronts. CNN and other media outlets want ratings and none does better than covering the riots as opposed to the actual decision. The riots provide a distraction from the actual point of the matter. That being said I'm of the belief that the reactions made initially when mike brown was killed in August and the reactions of last night were made by ignorant and uneducated minority "protesters" were not warranted. I believe brown acted aggressively with intent to harm the officer and the officer did what his "training" taught him and that's to shoot. However For racial tensions to subside cops in general black or white need to be trained on how to handle certain situations to prevent issues from arising but at the same time what no one is saying is, is follow the law! Follow orders! If a cop tells you to put your arms up do it! The fact is as a white male their are certain neighborhoods im not wanted in where I have to fear for my life...also blacks are profiled each time they walk through nice suburban neighborhoods...both are wrong! This is not the country we should be living in! It's my opinion What the issue in the black community in ferguson is is that instead of following the teachings or actions that Martin Luther king jr believed, community "leaders" like al sharpton are at the forefront of the racial tension issues and sharpton incites everything opposite that dr king preached. Instead of looting and destroying the community things should be done to build it. I have black friends that are vocal and active in the community and make educated decisions in a peaceful manner, but the bottom line is you have uneducated thugs who actually get in the way of blacks trying to make better for themselves! For example after trayvon Martin was killed Kobe Bryant who is black by the way faced backlash from African American communities because he didn't react off the cuff without citing the unknown details of the matter, by doing that, he wasn't considered "black enough". So before the race card is used I think certain leaders of the black community who follow doctor king need to be interviewed in the media, they need to give the black kids a voice or a reason to protest peacefully...instead ignorant and uneducated thugs who look up to jayz or Lebron james and other celebrity figures who just say oh this can't continue. The fact of the matter is as there are certainly whites that truly are racists and cops that use excessive force that can't be denied. However it is al sharpton and other ignorant and uneducated individuals that ruin it for the black men and women who try to make an honest living to support their families and loved ones. Our president sees race for his own as well, he's guilty of his own actions. Meanwhile he should preach to the black community that he's an example of what working hard can get you if you do it the honest way and put in the work. He's a black president. Instead of inciting "change" he's promoting more hatred for law enforcement.
http://www.kansascity.com/news/state/missouri/article3981628.html Q: How many people are on the grand jury and how were they selected? A: The grand jury is composed of 12 people "selected at random from a fair cross-section of the citizens," according to Missouri law. The jury is 75 percent white: six white men, three white women, two black women and one black man. St. Louis County overall is 70 percent white, but about two-thirds of Ferguson's residents are black. Brown was black. The officer is white. --- Q: Was the grand jury appointed for this specific case? A: No. It was appointed for a four-month term. The grand jury had been hearing routine cases around the time Brown was killed and then turned its attention to the shooting. The jury's term was due to expire Sept. 10. That same day, county Judge Carolyn Whittington extended the term to Jan. 7 — the longest extension allowable by state law. The investigation was always expected to go longer than the typical grand jury term. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmm. Looks like the judge picked this jury according to the population breakdown of the county and not the city. Doesn't really change anything. A 75% white jury must have been comforting to the Prosecutor and Wilson. Darren Wilson was good to go period. This grand jury was a waste of time and money. One big assed rubber stamp presented to the media as an "impartial investigation". These "protests" are a waste of time and energy as well since at the end of the day, its just another dead black kid followed by rioting in the name of said black kid. Some things will never change.. Oh well, on to the next shooting.. How about the "accident" in Brooklyn.. Anyone??
Read my post above TNJ.. According to Mo. Law, the grand jury was chosen by the makeup of the county, not the city so with a majority white county, you wind up with a majority white jury. My only question is what was the point of putting 3 blacks on it in the first place? Window dressing it would appear.
Hmm, looks exactly what I said. Do you think every eye witness that said he was going toward the officer lied? Do you think the 3 separate autopsies that all show he was not shot in the back and that forensic evidence that had the first shot occurring in the car were falsified? Do I think police officers are always in the right? Of course not but in this situation and unfortunately in many other situations the young black male ends up dead because of the action of the young black male. False bravado and a fear of being disrespected plays into it many times. If you want to help solve the problem then be open to looking at both sides rather than taking a woe is me attitude and acting as if only one side is at fault. I grew up in the Bronx, had officers pull guns on me but I was never shot by them because when they drew their weapons on me I obeyed their commands. I may have felt they were wrong but I obeyed at that time and lived to be able to file a complaint. I also have been shot, by a kid who probably wasn't older than 15 and maybe as young as 13. When they get illegal guns off the streets so that the officers don't have to worry about every other criminal possibly having an illegal gun then there will be many less jumpy rookie cops like had in Brooklyn. Lets make the sentence 10 years the first time someone is caught with an illegal gun, 20 years the second time. Maybe that will help cut down on it some.
Citizens assaulted, battered, or illegally detained by police should have the right to shoot them. A man with a gun who makes someone fear for their life or safety justifies self-defense. Pigs justify violent escalation with tangential examples of cop killers who began by assaulting the victim; the same B.S. should apply to them. Despicable.
The images from last night were wild, espicially the dude who screamed F**k Fox News and broke the studios camera. Just don't see how Mike Browns Step Dad yelling Burn this f**ker down, will help the situation.
Michael Brown's step father last night in front of a crowd... "Burn this bitch down"...While his pants are up to his knees and his ass his showing to the world. Thug life, ghetto hard Just a pathetic picture that was and truly a moment to emphasize as a great leader once said...
