Leonard Williams, the DT out of USC, is widely considered the best player in this draft. If he's there when we pick, you pick him?
A lot of players are widely considered the BPA. Randy Gregory is up there. Again, this discussion goes to my draft board and who I believe would be the BPA - not whom everyone else considers to be the BPA
Wow that is something to aspire to. Let's see just how long we can perpetuate mediocrity. Yeah, let's not change the franchise. This feeling is just...comfortable. _
Williams is on my draft board. I also have options to trade down - but again it's up to me if I think Williams is the BPA (at the Jets pick). If I believed Williams was 100% the next Reggie White - then well I might look to shop Wilkerson or I could trade the pick. It's good to have options.
But the City of Detroit has sucked for decades. Rome strove to be the pinnacle of civilization by making bold moves. I get it that you want to be respectable for the next 10 years. LT, RG, CB, WR. 7-9, 8-8, 6-10, 7-9. Not a laughing stock, respectable. Something to aspire to. I want to be 14-2 someday. Or 12-4. Or 13-3. Yeah, I want a franchise changing QB. 8-8 may be good enough for you. I'm tired of this shit. Get me my fucking Rogers. _
Btw, my QB is not making us worst to first in 1 season. He's making me a consistent winner for the next 12 seasons AFTER he sits for a year. 2015 means nothing to me. _
8-8 might be good enough for me next season, but if they hit on picks the way I believe they could then we'll be 12-4 in 2016 and be ruling this division. But Rome ain't built in a day and Mariota won't give you a 12-4 record next season.
I don't give a shit about next season and not anything outside of a QB is going to win 12 games in 2016. _
At this point I'd much rather go 1-15 next year knowing that I have the QB position secure for the next decade barring injury than go another meaningless 8-8 like we did last year.
I give a shit about every season - I want to see progress every year, I want our young players to get better. I never said the Jets shouldn't get a QB in the next 2 years, if they believe a certain QB is the man then they should pull the trigger. Don't twist my words around. This team needs talent everywhere including the QB position.
You want to draft Connor Cook next year. How the fuck does he get us to 12-4 in 2016 lol? Marcus Mariota is the only guy who gets us to 12-4 in 2016. _
There's a lot of players I like. I completely disagree with that assessment. There are multiple ways to rebuild this team.
Yet you want to draft OLineman so that we gain back some respectability. Who gives a shit about respectability? 8-8 looking at another 8-8 then 7-9 then 9-7 is the same old shit. QB or mediocre (I'm sorry, RESPECTABILITY) for 5 more years. _
We haven't had a GOOD draft since 2006. We fucked up after losing to the Steelers in 2010 - we should have kept building the offense, but we decided to pursue Tim freaking Tebow. Damn, didn't know there was only 1 round in this draft.
