Jets fans seem to have a lot of confidence going into this game with some of it directed towards Mike Vick. Of course the last time we played them and got shellacked was the Geno turnoverfest. I'm not as confident of Mike playing at least a good somewhat error free game vs Buff. Maybe the reason for this Jets fans confidence in Vick is only because we've seen the worst and believe that Mike's a veteran and knows what he's doing. Plus he hasn't turned over the ball that much since being named the starter. Jets by a FG, 20-17, two Vick turnovers (a fumble and a pick), the Jets D recovers one turnover. If we lose the turnover battle by no worse than a -1 we win the game. Another reason we win: usually we split with them. Plus their team is taking their usual second half of the season dive.
Yep, great post. Losing twice in a season to the Bills just seems awful to me. The secondary needs to step up against Watkins. If so, I think the Jets can win. I don't care about picking 1st or 15th in the draft. I want to win as many of the final 6 as the team can.
I don't think the practice time or location will be an issue or advantage for either team really. Neither QB inspires confidence. also hard to cite momentum when there will be such a long period of time since either team has played. i would agree with the Jets players and Coaching staff needing to get up for this game though, after that terrible performance a couple weeks ago against Buff. will come down to execution and protecting the football for both teams. it could go either way, but i'm optimistic about the Jets chances in Detroit.
Is it bad for me to kinda hope for a loss just to finally see Francesa's head explode? He nearly had a coronary after the last Bills loss. I feel it would be a net win... (Ok, that was mean. Sorry, tongue in cheek...)
They are missing their top cornerback. If we control the line of scrimmage, Vick plays a clean game and Jarett plays at even 1/2 the level of last week, with Walls back we should dominate.
To me the story of this game is going to be turnovers. If they can rough up Vick and kill his mental edge then he will cough up the ball. We know because we've seen it. So to me this game is primarily on Vick and the performance of the OL. If they come to play esp after a bye we have a good chance to win.
This is a much bigger game for Buff than for us. The question is are they going to be playoff contenders or go back to the pack and join the Jets as just another also-ran. It would be hard to accept being swept by the Bills for me and a lot of other Jets fans.
Vick should be the key to this game. It's hard not to turn the ball over against this defense. If we can win the turnover battle or lose it by 1, I can see us winning 24-20..players are fighting hard to the end for Rex even if everyone else has given up on him.
I'm not sure if I buy this players are fighting hard for Rex's job. They lost 8 games in a row and for the most part played sloppy undisciplined football.
mahalo for this marvelous avatar There was a chick out in the lineup yesterday with an ass of legend................ btw, yeah, if you got the Sunday Ticket it'll be on.
The Jets are going to win for a variety of reasons: 1 We are out of the playoffs 2 It improves Rex's chances of remaining HC 3 It lowers our draft spot in 2015 Bet tha' house on us tonight.
Although I am totally on board with starting Vick, that is a relative metric since Smith sucks. While the stats say Vick has not turned the ball over in the last two games, he's come awfully close three times to doing so, and Buffalo does have a good D for sure. I think if Buffalo can run the ball and as you say the Jets are not careful wih the ball it could be another Bills win this year.
i believe Vick had 3 (almost 4) turnovers against the Bills during their last meeting, on top of Smiths 3 INT's to start the game. Holding onto the football will be a huge determining factor tonight. It always is of course, but worth noting considering Vick's propensity to turn it over, last 2 games not withstanding.
Way to position yourself to be pissed regardless of the outcome.. If we lose: "swept by the Bills, Rex is terrible, fire every one, this team is clueless" If we win: "typical Jets getting a 'senseless' win, Rex is terrible, fire every one, this team is clueless and blew their draft chances" Why even watch?
