if it was damn the fans they would have kept it in Orchard Park. you think the league wanted to move the game?
The Bills may have lost some home field advantage, but that's about it imo.. the extra day gets them in all the practice and prep they should need to compete. I don't think either team has an advantage/disadvantage in this game. And as you mentioned, it could even prove to unite the Buff squad some. At the end of the day, it's two familiar divisional opponents facing off at a fairly neutral location. It will take execution on the field to win..
That even more so than crowd noise is the biggest break the Jets get out of this. Vick on a fast track and out of the elements.
The league had no choice - they had to move the game. But once they realized it had to be moved they took the easy way out and put it in one of their own places rather than considering the fans and the home field advantage. They gave the big "FUCK YOU" to the Buffalo fans.
where did you want them to put it? a big FU would have been moving it to the Meadowlands. Stadiums aren't ready at the drop of a dime to host an event like this.
Thats a bit of a stretch, its a lot more complicated than to just move it into another building that is not run/owned by the NFL. NFL has employees in Detroit, they need them to show up at the game, they need people checking tickets, they need security guards trained and paid for by the NFL, they need concession stands, etc. They have that in Detroit, they do not have that in Syracuse. Detroit also has the proper equipment for an NFL game to be broadcasted, Syracuse does not have that either. It would not be as good of quality from a TV perspective. No one got screwed here.
That's all bogus - -Most of the video equipment is portable. As for the rest of that stuff - - If they can fly across the world and make it all work in a soccer stadium in London they coulda made it work 150 miles up the road in Syracuse.... A venue that's hosted numerous high profile events just fine It's not just about Syracuse either, the NFL just wanted to keep it in their own house. Having it in Detroit is stupid
Is anyone from Syracuse or the Carrier Dome on record saying they wanted to have the game? Can they get the field turned around in a day to host a basketball game tomorrow? Do they have the facilities to handle replay the way the NFL does it? Can they accomodate a fulle NFL television production? Does the fact that the Carrier Dome hold less than 50,000 people play into it? What do you tell the extra 25,000 Buffalo fans - "Sorry, you cannot attend?"
that soccer stadium in London is: a)state of the art(the Carrier Dome is not) b) planned years in advance.
Yes. there was an article I posted earlier in this thread from the stadium's operational manager saying that it could've been done and that they really wanted to host. As for your last comment - I imagine it wouldn't be any different than the current situation. They would honor the refunds for the tickets at Ralph Wilson Stadium and give out tickets to the new venue... It would just be a more Buffalo friendly crowd. It's not even the Carrier Dome thing though - it's the fact that the NFL dictated where it would be without even letting the Buffalo Bills organization have a say
On this I agree. The Bills should have had input as to where the game was held. It should be pointed out that the organization has not in recent years been an advocate for its fans by playing games in Toronto and taking away home games in their own market.
They can make it work in Syracuse, just not on 3 days notice.... you have to be able to get 100s of employees in the building to, which is not easy either. A lot of students work at such venues to, and you cant ask them to show up at the stadium on a school day with little notice. And actually yes the video equipment is an issue. Its not a huge issue but it would not be broadcasted as good as a regular game would be. They need the camera angles that most NCAA stadiums do not have.
Thats not true at all either, the Bills agreed to such terms in a contract. They AGREED to them a long time ago, so if the NFL wants to move the game, they can, and the Bills agreed to that, they are on board with it (if they were not on board with it, they would not have agreed to it.)
read Peter King's MMQB for info, some highlights: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/11/24/odell-beckham-catch-new-york-giants-week-12-nfl/7/ Yankee Stadium would have been awesome.
Yankee Stadium is a modern facility, the Carrier Dome is not. I had no issue playing there but they were not equipped to host an NFL game. Yankee Stadium is equipped.
How am I making stuff up? you are comparing a college stadium built in 1980 or so to a state of the art facility built in 2009?
