To be fair it worked against him too as there were a few years Dawson blocked Mawae from getting in because of his reputation.

Just because Klecko got screwed does not mean that Mawae not deserve to get in. I am not even sure that Klecko was the better player considering that they never played against each other.

Mawae was one of the best centers ever to play in the NFL. He made the pro bowl eight times (six as a Jet) despite competing with the likes of Dermatti Dawson and Jeff Saturday.

The Jets (usually because of their record) tend to get screwed when it comes to pro bowl voting. Joe Klecko only made four pro bowls. Curtis Martin and Marc Gastineau had five.

Until Klecko makes the HOF, Canton is not a legit entity IMHO.

Klecko was a great player and a worthy HOFer but that doesn't take away from Mawae being worthy as well.

Joe should probably get a TV show and become beloved as a TV personality- it worked for Strahan.

Those are some serious truths you are preaching there.....

Are you implying his role as the Polish Driver in Cannonball Run didn't make Klecko beloved enough?

Not taking anything away from Mangold but Mawae is one of the best centers ever to play. How many centers can pull out and block down field on sweeps? A lot of Martin's yards are thanks to Mawae. He will not get in on the first ballot however, due to the fact that the Jets never won anything while he was here, but there is no question he deserves to be in the Hall. Also Klecko and, yes Gastineau, belong there as well.

I think Mawae deserves to be in the Hall. What a great player. He could do things consistently that most other centers could never do.

There was also Schmitt. Yes, the Jets have been one of the better franchises when it comes to centers.

I absolutely loved KM when he was here. I was upset when we let him walk. BUT, the HOF is a joke if Joe Klecko STILL hasn't gotten recognition to get in..

But yes, Mawae is a HOFer. Good for him!!

mawae was one of the greatest pulling centers in nfl history. his problem was against the big big boys. I remember a game against the bills when they had something like 7 sacks against us right up the gut. kevin got ran over all day long.

but put him is space against second tier he was unbelievable....

    great, great parcels signing.....thanks seattle....

the jets have had centers like the packers and colts have qb's.
