Side note: Why the hell is Samual Jackson dressed like 70's Hugh Hefner in a credit card commercial?

Whoa, what a nice bomb that was! While I can't believe that the Steelers' Gay would bite on a fake by Nate Washington and let him get behind him, Mettenberger still hit him in stride with a strike.

    Titans 17-13 at the half.

Yeah but QB's werent relying on the same type of offenses then as they are now.

Any QB that ran the spread in college were either just not taken high in the draft or drafted to be played at a different position.

Now you got these guys being drafted 1st overall.

Look at the guys that are considered somewhat successful at it (RG3, Kap, Newton, Wilson)..imagine a league full of that type of QB?

    Boring!

So in the first half the Gay factor is 6 points both ways.

No, the proper wording for those bitch threads is: "Good thing we didn't draft Mettenberger!"

Gawd I hope not, spread offense I'm hoping is a fad that disappears when they realize they can't keep QB's healthy, unless the plan is to devaluate QB's the same way RB's have become devaluated.

I love Mettenbergers arm, the concern with him is if he can speed up his delivery and increase pocket awareness, but I love his potential...I love pocket passers and I wish the Jets had taken him as a developmental QB.

Don't look at me, I was vocal for wanting him leading up to the draft.

Win or lose I like Mettenberger, I didn't think he'd be a first year starter (And he wouldn't have been without the injuries) but for his 3rd start as a late round pick he's looking pretty good over his first 3 games, not fantastic..a lot to clean up but i like his upside and how well he's handling it.

As long as colleges continue to put athletic athletes who can run past a defense at QB instead of smart athletes that can read a defense at QB it wont disappear.

    Its sad really.

The same way kids coming out of school too early ruined the NBA , kids not being forced to learn a different offense then what got them their scholarship will be the downfall of the NFL.

I hope QB's like Mettenberger succeed cause thats the way the position should be played.

I don't think the NFL will have a long term stomach for the Read Option, only one read option QB has managed to stay healthy so far, all the others have been....well disappointing.
