He didn't fold. After those hits he continued to set into the pocket and make some throws. The team overall couldn't keep up with greenbay. Sanchez didn't do great but he isn't the only reason they got blown out. The sack didn't set the tone. Ima usin Tapatalkie.
In your mind did Sanchez do enough today for the Eagles to win? Cause bottom line that should be all that matters.
If you replace the Eagles with the Jets today, all this board would be talking about is how much Sanchez stinks and how that was the reason for the loss.
Why does he need to be given credit? Credit for what exactly? The guy is a walking turnover waiting to happen and not a starting caliber NFL QB.
The difference simply was in 2010 and 2009 Sanchez still made the mistakes and panicked under pressure at an equal or higher rate than 2011 and 2012 but in 09-10 he was greatly protected and not exposed to situations where he could hurt the team. Rather he was protected by only throwing when the defense expected the run. But in 2011 and 2012 he had to play in situations closer to what a normal QBs and we saw the results on the field. But I do agree with part of what you said. When the pocket collapsed and Sanchez was able to use his athletic ability and play without thinking he looked better. An example was the throw to Edwards in the NE playoff game where he escaped the pocket and threw a pass down the left sideline early in the game that Edwards caught off the side of his helmet. But most of the time when pressured he would panic, shuffle his feet, drop his head and vision and become indecisive waiting to get hit. This affected his throws greatly throwing off his back foot consistently. But the times he used his athletic ability and instincts and simply ran he was a better QB as he played without thinking and without panicking. If you want to see a game from 2010 of him panicking take a look at the 2010 Indy playoff game. It is arguably one of the worst games a QB has ever played right up there with the Sanchez games against SF, Arizona and Tenn in 2012. In that game he was so bad the Jets had to take the ball out of his hands and just run it in the 2nd half to get back in the game and eventually win the game.
Looked like it to me, I saw the sack in the first quarter and Mark started playing worse. Pick 6, taking more sacks, bad decisions with the ball. Mark didn't play well at all today. He did fold. He made some throws but plenty of ill-advised ones.
He should be given credit for HIS mistakes as much as what HE does right. We have a hard time with all that, the playoff wins and awful stretch after has left a black and white view of the guy.
Sanchez stinks and he always has. There are some great weapons in Philly who could give him some respectable yardage stats, but he will AlWAYS provide the other team with a couple of horrendous turnovers that swing the game. He already has 5 TO's in less than 3 games ... And don't forget that vintage Sanchez pick he threw against the Panthers last week where the guy didn't get his feet in bounds. Sanchez is who he is, and those fans in Philly will be calling for his head as he plays them out of the race. No regrets whatsoever about showing him the door.
Mark made some good plays today. Brad Smith just dropped a sure fire TD pass. Despite what success he had (he was able to move the ball) he had that same look of uncertainty and confusion we saw a million times with the Jets. When things don't go his way. And don't think Chip didn't notice it.
Sanchez play is not the reason the team lost. He doesn't AIWAYS provide the negative swing. Game was way over once he started throwing balls up. Ima usin Tapatalkie.
That first half in IND was BRUTAL. I agree, I'm not saying he was great at it, just better in 2010. I think part of the reason is what surrounded him in 2010. He usually had 3-4 legitimate playmakers on the field in 2010 when he scrambled. Even though LT was old, he still could get past LBs and get open. I just think in 2011 and 2012 is when we saw more of the Sanchez everyone remembers, the one who goes into a shell and panics when he feels pressure or takes a hit
It felt like the perfect storm in the first half. On one side the Packers offense was just going up and down the field, while on the Eagles side, their offensive line was letting up pressure. It didnt feel like Sanchez played bad in the first half, it just never got going with anyone. Give credit to the Packers defense, they made plays, like the 3rd and one when Sanchez PA'd it and Matthews got him (which was Kellys fault, he should have ran it, I wanted him to.....dumb play call on his part).
If I'm the Eagles and I want to win with Mark I run the ball a lot more than they did today. And go more to a ball control offense. Even though Sanchez had plenty of time to throw the ball today. He made some very nice plays but isn't accurate because he's inconsistent. Btw the Eagles gave tryouts this week to Thad Lewis and Terrelle Pryor. Not sure why Lewis isn't on a roster. I thought he did a good job with the Bills last year. He's better than Geno or Matt Simms. No free cheese fries from any of the Philly fans for Mark this week.
The offense as a unit failed today, Green Bays defense was making plays. I wouln't overreact to this game, I would just pray I dont have to go Green Bay again.....thats pretty much it. I think the Eagles can win in Arizona, Detroit, New Orleans/Atlanta, Dallas, but Green Bay was the perfect storm. This doesnt mean that Green Bay is going to the Super Bowl either, Green Bay has to prove they can take apart a good defense, which they have failed to do when they went up against Seattle and Detroit. Specifically, Rodgers looked really average, if not bad on both occasion.
Under 60% completion pct, 2 picks, 2 fumbles lost, team gets blown out. What exactly did people think was going to happen when Mark Sanchez got heavy NFL exposure again in an offense trying to actually do things instead of going into a ground and pound fetal curl and wait for the defense to bail them out? This is who Sanchez is. It's what he does. Given a really strong surrounding cast he can make some things happen now and then in crunch time. Absent that he's just not a particularly good QB. If you give him a lot of opportunities to make plays you're also giving him a lot of opportunities to screw up. Guess what? One of those things will certainly happen and then you are banking on him to provide the other, a dubious possibility against anything but a bottom feeder defense. And yes, the Patriots defense has blown chunks periodically under Belichik.
Sanchez: Pick 6 2 INTs Responsible for 4 turnovers Innacurate passes benefiting from Bloated stats in a uptempo no huddle offense That's the Sancho I remember...Now lets see all the Jets fans with Sanchez boners discuss his awesomeness.
This. It's been pointed out many times in the never-ending Sanchez debates on this message board, but basically when Sanchez is forced to throw a lot, both his individual statistics as well as his team's W/L record tend to suffer, accordingly. Mark having to throw the ball 44 times generally isn't going to end well.
