I agree, that's why I want Vick back for 2 years at least.

Hopefully this time we won't bail at the first sign of adversity or a butt fumble, add and not subtract weapons.

I see where this is going.

Trade the farm for Mariota + continue to have Winters / Colon / Aboushi as guards [meaning no upgrades at offensive line cause you traded the farm] + Vick starts yr = Ends up on IR before week 7

    Next equation (post week 7)

Raw Mariota comes in as relief + shitty guards that injured Vick still in the lineup + Mariota gets crappy protection + questionable pocket presence = no franchise QB and a recipe for disaster.

That doesn't look like it's going in the right direction to me :(:confused:o_O:oops:

This city, with this media = extreme detriment to any young qb. I think the only young qb that could change it, is someone like a Namath willing to grab their own nuts and play the game the only way that they know how to. This means they run the offense in almost entirety with little thought given to coach (it's their team).

Otherwise, from here on out I only want to see a veteran qb at the helm. NO more Rookies. You can't play the position from the sideline. All of our young Qbs have been over coached IMO.

I would be fine with Vick coming back. The Jets won't do much better than him barring a blockbuster trade and those don't usually happen with QBs.

Besides Vick, other QBs who might be available are Hoyer and Fitzpatrick.

I don't disagree with you. We need a franchise QB... no doubt about it. I don't believe Mariota is him though and I certainly don't agree with trading the farm for him.

I agree that Winston is more pro ready. It's too bad he's a knucklehead. I just meant that we shouldn't throw another QB right into the fire again.

We have zero skill at developing the position. The Jets should only roll with a vet.

If you run into a brick wall at a different angle should you expect different results? Stop drafting and starting rookie qbs.

While he may not be good or great right away, I still think he can be servicable early as a starter because he is football smart, careful with the ball and can extend plays. I'd prefer he sit but I don't think it's imperative.

At this juncture as long as we finish ahead of Tampa Bay we should have Mariota here (and holding the clipboard). Hopefully TB likes Winston more.

Okay. I question yours as well :)

Mariota definitely has athleticism and talent. I just don't think he's as good as everyone seems to be making him out to be. I'm not alone either.

He has a ton of fumbles and has guys running WIDE open which is why his INT's are few (but so was Geno's receivers and he also had a low INT total in NCAA)

Keeping Vick and trading down. I've heard of worse ideas.

Mariota doesn't throw receivers open against tight coverage. I saw it a little bit against Stanford - but even so it's the Oregon system that gets these players wide open. He sits his rookie yr w/ a good offensive coach - he will thrive IMO.

Mariota > Geno. But I agree about the fumbles.

If there is doubt better to avoid him and trade down. Out of 12 picks last year, i count 1 starter (amaro). That is pathetic.
We have drafted the wrong guy at the wrong position at the wrong time.

MM is not going to be here next year. I do not want my QB throwing for 130 yards a game. Extend him for 3 or 4 years? Sorry, and no offense, but that would be insane. As insane as bringing Sanchez back here based on his beating a team that has been playing like a Pop Warner team this year. Get a grip. Pitt played an awful game last week. Teams do that. I guess you just have to wait until Buffalo slaughters us again to get your sights refocused. It will happen. Pitt just had one of those games that we seem to have 4 or 5 times a year.

If they could get Mariota without trading up then pick him and sit him behind Vick (if he makes it through end of the year playing at this level we ought to sign him for a few years). If Mariota's not there use first round pick on BPA and use FA to fill some roster holes (OL, CB) more aggressively than we did last off-season. But look for a QB prospect in rounds 2-4 to sit behind Vick (and I guess Geno) -- we may get Russell Wilson-lucky.

Totally fair. We're all just guessing here.

If Mariota drops to us maybe take him.

He's another one of these option QB's that plays mostly in the shotgun. He's definitely a high-quality prospect but he's going to need a lot of work to be good in a pro set. If the Jets take him they're probably better off defining the offense around him instead of trying to shoehorn him into a WCO.
