He's right. 100% right. We started Geno to see what we had but if this was a fair and real QB competition, it is obvious Vick would have been starting from day one.
HE NEVER EVER SAID THAT HE SHOULD HAVE STARTED ALL ALONG. Even during the post game conference, he stated AGAIN, that he doesnt want the media to spin it the wrong way...He says IF he started the potential of success would have been greater immediately. BUT he knows what he signed up for, to teach Geno and help him improve as a starter. He knew he was coming in as a backup and prepared as one...If he was in as the starter then his mental makeup would have been different.
Again, understood but the media will spin it and will get a reaction (either from the fans or front office).
Wow, now I kind of get all of the hate that this site has for you Falco...I always gave you the benefit of the doubt.
I think it's completely retarded to hand a QB the starting position to begin the year for the purpose of "seeing what you have". If the season is a lost cause, by all means, feel free. But to start the season? To see what we have? Hello!? You play the win the game! There was no good reason to not have a true QB competition. Idziks "competition" mantra is a bunch of fucking bullshit that he can shove up his ass. This team is so ass backwards. We wait until the season is over and THEN start playing the best players. Prior to that we played the guys who were drafted high enough to be forced on the field. Clowns.
What a shit show. Why even ask the question? What is Vick supposed to say? "No. I shouldn't have started the season as QB because I suck" or "I wasn't taking it seriously in training camp so Geno was the better QB, even though he played terribly" or "Just give me my paycheck and stop asking me questions." He HAS to say he believes he was good enough to start from day one, but that doesn't mean he is calling out Rex's decision to start Geno.
The fact that he had the gaul to say every position is in competition including Center and then pulled that nonsense w/qb is a major issue for me.
Yep, it sure seems that way. This was a bs approach by the FO all along. My only question concerns apportionment of blame, but perhaps we are past that point. Was Rex on board for this waiting nonsense? Maybe it doesn't matter - he didn't prevent it, so shitcan him, too. Yeah, I know all the reasons offered in support of Ryan, and agree with some of them. But in the end he was either supportive of this approach or someone who did not have the pull to take another one. Who needs an HC like that? Fire his ass.
