He averaged 5.5 yards per rush yesterday. I don't see what the issue is. If anything we have made the Seahawks look like a bunch of fucking idiots because we brought Percy in and he is averaged 81 total yards per game with the Jets, when he was only averaged 43 yards per game with the Seahawks. Percy is an average NFL receiver, but if you can find extra ways to get him the ball, he becomes one of the best 15 weapons in the entire league. The problem is Seattle only tried to use him as a RB and bubble screen guy, and forget that he is good for 4 or 5 catches at WR every game too.
because it works? I have never been so glad to wrong as I was when I was really down on the move for Harvin - what a breath of fresh air he has been on the offense.
Percy running the ball isn't a big deal until he gets hurt doing it. We need more sweeps with him. That said we should be using him mainly on the outside as a WR. He can use these last 6 games developing his game and working on his routes. I don't think Ivory touches the ball enough on offense. If he had 18-20 carries a game he'd probably have monster games like the NE game, is Johnson really a part of the future? We should feature Ivory more through the end of the season. Powell's carries only pimp him up for Free Agency, we might as well give him 5 touches a game decrease his value, and get him back cheap next year.
Jets with Percy Harvin in the backfield: 1-2 Jets without Percy Harvin in the backfield: 1-6 Case closed. The Jets are an AFC powerhouse with Harvin in the backfield. On a serious note, it keeps the defense honest, he can get around the edge real quick so it sets up our downhill running scheme. Also, sometimes we can motion him out of the backfield out wide and create horrific mismatches with the defense.
I'd rather Harvin get the fewest carries out of the backfield as possible, but he isn't taking the ball out of Ivory or Powell's hands, he's taking it out of CJ's which I have no problem with, because CJ has shown almost zero effort since the season began. He don't be on the field because he don't belong on the field, what a waste of money that idiot is.
Harvin in the backfield presents monumental problem for the defense. 1. Sweeps become a legitimate worries. [As if sweeps aren't a threat in WCO. Jet sweep is a staple, if I didn't tell you yet.] That also means the defenders have to start defending themselves against stretch runs. [That's where chop blocks become legal, as the defender is not fixated any more.] No more aggressive penetration - which also means better offensive production. What's not to like? 2. Harvin in the backfield - then sees OLB or ILB on him? You always have the option to [flex] him out. Be it a toss, or quick out, or WHATEVER. Defense cannot readily commit a defender and consider it done. If DB is in for Percy - just run between tackles. Doesn't become easier than that. [I'd hand it off to Ivory if this is the case though.] 3. And he's a fantastic safety blanket out of the backfield - QBs can dump off and know Percy will at least get back to the LoS, if not gain 4 or 5. So Jets should give up all these? For what?
Lol Why do I use a toothbrush on my teeth? I mean, it removes plaque and food debris and prevents cavities, but the bristles won't last forever. I might even have to replace it.
When you've got an explosive playmaker like Harvin on your team you try to get the ball in his hands as much as possible. It's as simple as that.
My point was he does that regardless of where he's playing, So why take off a player like Ivory to put Harvin there and a guy like Greg Salas on the outside. Shit, Motion him into the backfield with Ivory.,. I just don't understand why we would take talent off the field when we don't need to.....
