I'm sure that Chip won't overextend Mark. You know a man's gotta know his limitations. And that Mark's smart enough to stay within the game plan. Not like when he was here. One of Mark's biggest problems here was red zone turnovers. I can remember opposing Dbs laughing about it after games saying how he couldn't read defenses and was a born sucker for trick plays. If he does it with the Eagles he won't last very long. Chip isn't going to coddle anybody. Ask Vick.
Kelly also, like any coach, wants the QB who best fits what he wants to do. He's a great offensive mind, of course he can scheme and adapt. But i'm sure he'd love to get his hands on his prototypical QB.
Struggled is an understatement. As for the 4 playoff wins: it was 4 years ago. I think he can do ok in a very structured run offense. And the Eagles have one of the best running backs in football. If the Jets had limited him to the run and shoot he might have survived. If I was playing against him I'd throw the kitchen sink at him. I don't think he can handle a pass rush.
So the narrative is now that instead of drafting Geno in the second we should have been drafting "weapons" for Sanchez? Wow.
should have been bringing in weapons post 2010 instead of just letting them go. we re-signed Holmes in 2011 so that's ok but every other move was a move backward on paper and in reality.
To these guys the whole world revolves around Mark. I'm sure they'll be digging into their bag of excuses if Mark doesn't do well tonight.
"instead of taking Geno"? Seriously, I don't hate on Sancho and I'm rooting for him to do well tonight and forever as long as he doesn't wind up in our division. But to act like he had some Derek Jeter-type lead pipe lock on the position regardless of his production is infantile. It didn't work out, obviously, but the Jets were right to pick Geno in the second.
clearly Geno wasn't the answer so instead of wasting a pick(and 2 years b/c of it) on him we could have tried to acquire some talent for the QB to throw to. Should have brought in a vet to challenge Mark, he didn't deserve job handed to him bit neither did Geno and Geno had the job handed to him.
Well said Sanchez is suited best when the team can run the ball well. Another thing to note is that Sanchez always seemed to play better in the 2 minute drill and the Eagles basically run that style of offense. Quick plays with the HC calling them through the Headset. That's huge for a guy like Sanchez who needs a guy like Kelly in his ear. Sanchez even said Kelly's play calling style is huge for him because he calls the plays so quick and the team is so up-tempo that the Headset doesn't cut out because they're snapping the ball with over 15 secs still on the play clock.
Keys for Sanchez tonight: Don't miss the easy throws. The Eagles offense can pick up chunk yards on short throws and hitting receivers in stride to get YAC. You have to hit these or you start getting into 2nd and 3rd and long. Don't let the mistakes snowball. He had a problem with this, when he made one mistake, it rarely stopped there. Mistakes #2 and #3 were coming up next. This Eagles team is talented to absorb them, but no need to put them in the position to do that. Use your legs. The offensive line isn't great so far and he will get pressured a bit. Also, he can keep it on those read plays and is quicker than Foles and can be a real threat.
Jets were right to pick a bad QB prospect? If only the Jets scouting department actually had a clue. Just because he's available doesn't mean he's the BPA. We whiffed on a lot of good players. Idzik barely even BELIEVES in Geno Smith, his QB he drafted last year. You watch Geno's tapes against decent teams, he was not that good in college. They were wrong. It didn't have to be Nacho out there, it could have been a different veteran.
Hit the checkdowns, Sproles will will make something out of nothing, he did it last week. Sanchez really benefited from it when L.T was capable of it in 2010. The Eagles should be able to control this game, the Carolina offensive isnt to good and their defense is ripe for the picking.
