And how is that different from what people want? We had a terrible roster in 2012 because we couldn't afford anything and basically had to take the year off lady year because Idzik had to fix our cap. Tanny had to restructure contracts every year just so we could get under. It moves money into the future and creates cap hits for releasing those players when they start to regress. I think Idzik probably shouldn't have sat on 20 mil, but you also have to realize we will be able to resign all our important players and make some nice acquisitions in the offseason. All his contracts are team friendly and allow us wiggle room. We weren't going to really compete this year regardless. I want to see Idzik for one more year and if it's no better, he gets fired. Simple.
it's his choice to not play hard and dog it half the time....its been his MO his whole career, including college.
Harvin is probably worth the $10M a year as a playmaker. He's not worth that as a RB or a WR but how many guys in the NFL can do both well enough to scare opposing defenses on a play to play basis?
Sanchez was more a disappointment that a bust, its ridiculous to refer to Milliner as a bust, most CBs take 2-3years to find their feet (though granted the injury position is a problem and was the main reason I was negative about the pick at the time), pryor is a rookie in a position that takes time to play well, keller was derailed by injuries, coples isn't a bad player - so all in all - no.
Percy seems to be fitting in here. Plus he's from the same area in Virginia as Mike Vick who is kind of a hero to him. You're right about restructuring. Idzik made a good trade not giving up a lot and no guaranteed money. If Vick can bring more to the offense without excessive turnovers or injuries I'm not against bringing him back next season.
Getting benched 3x in his first year and missing the entire 2nd year is pretty close to a bust as you can come.
I think Milliner is going to be pretty good. The benching was a good move by Rex and Thurmond. He needed it. Pryor was benched today and the same goes for him. Eventually he'll be a good starter. It's not impossible that the Jets will have a good young defensive backfield mostly guys they developed on their own.
Only person that really did damage to milliner this year was jordy... and he's destroying every teams defense if you guys haven't noticed. Lets see next year before calling him a bust
You have it set in your mind that milliner isn't good clearly.. The weeks he played besides jordy i dont recall anybody getting their way with milliner.. & thats going back to the last December.
His point was that he barely played in the "weeks besides Jordy." If memory serves, he played against Green Bay (was obviously still hurt and played terribly) and started the Detroit game (and was very quickly lost for the season). That was it. So, he played roughly 1.25 games this season (probably not even because he didn't finish the GB game) and was hurt for almost all of it. And if you are going to go back to last December, why not go back to the beginning of last year? (Since he played the entire season last year) I'm not saying Milliner is a total bust, but I'm not sure there is much evidence to support the notion that he is going to be good either. We'll see.
Milliner played well in the Jets Cover 2 the last third of the season last year after Ed Reed was picked up. Nothing earth-shattering but much better than in Rex's Press Man where he was rookie toast.
