You play to win the game. If this game can show us what we have in some of our players and allow us to re-sign them rather than let them go (Harvin, for example), it will be worth it. If this game will show us what we have in some of our younger players (Amaro, Aboushi, etc.), it will be well worth it. Teams who tank create a culture of losing; winning mentality leads to more wins. It's as simple as that.
You guys do realize that even if the Bucs finish with a worse record than us, we could still get Mariota right? Both the Raiders and Jags are going to be looking to trade down since they already have their QB's, and Lovie Smith hates having young QB's. It's much more likely the Bucs draft the top offensive lineman and either stick with McCown or go get a different veteran.
