Id guess that there is life to this if they are saying it. ESPN NY gets the Jets coverage, gets the insight more often than not. But a GM getting fired in the middle of a season? when was the last time that happened?

I can't really see a franchise getting rid of their GM mid season. Regardless of the job he's done there are still day to day and game to game operations that need to be addressed that not just any shmo can pickup.
If this was the rumor during the bye week then I might believe it somewhat but it makes no sense for them to be fired when we have a game in less then a week. This is most likely bull shit... Michael Kay heard this rumor from who exactly? Incarcerated Bob?
The rumor purportedly is that they will be fired during the bye week. "Monday" as in "Monday of this coming week, the Jets bye week."
What is the upside to cutting these guys loose mid-season? It's not like the team is 4-5 now with the chance to go 10-6. It would be almost impossible not to foment discord in the locker room with a move like this and that would invariably carry over into next season.
Yikes, who would interim? Finishing the last 7 weeks with a guy like MM at the helm would be one of the lowest points this franchise ever gets. Although at least Marty would finally be able to legally call timeouts.
