I hope not, I think we'll win a few games but we'll see. Like 1996 there is talent to build around though.
If you dont win championships and the team that share's your stadium does, you will take some abuse. Tom Coughlin cant get the flag out of shoe - "Unfortunate error" Rex cant get challenge flag out of show - "Rex is a clown, needs to be fired, same old Jets"
I think we will, too. I'm just so shocked to be 1-8 right now. I didn't think this team was any kind of contender, but, I was very hopeful to see a 8-8/9-7 type of effort and being in the hunt until the end.
I am in shock too. I thought we could compete for the playoffs, I also thought we could be better than last year and win a game or 2 less but I never thought we'd be out of it by Halloween.
for me actually it's easier, it sucks to go through this but w/ so many other things going on in my life the older I get it doesn't bother me as much as it used to when I was younger. the 90s were a lot harder than this run for me.
Being a Jets fan is like being that guy who sits by himself at lunch in highscool, people walk by and laugh and point at you .That's being a Jets fan in a nutshell
I just hate the fact that I already KNOW this will be another year without us winning it all. As long as you can make the playoffs, you have that hope that your team can get hot and win it all (especially in modern times where parity rules the day).
Also, no question that the 90s were much, much worse. The Coslet years are underrated for how depressing they were. And, of course, the two kotite years will always stand in infamy. I will tell my grandkids about those years.
nothing was more depressing(sports wise) than being in that old Stadium in Nov/Dec during the Kotite years
**Crazy time brought to you by JV28 ** The first time the Jets won a Super Bowl was during a space race. After the Jets won the Super Bowl and USA landed on the moon, several times, the Soviet Union collapsed. Now, the Soviet Union rises again. USA must engage in another space race to completely dismantle comrade confidence. A revitalized space race is the key to a Jets Super Bowl victory. Let's go back to the moon baby!
We would have with competent QB play and having adequate corners. Now we are all going to have to suffer as we watch Sanchez lead the Eagles to playoffs and the Jets ponder if we should start Matt Simms.
Its going to be a tough road The Jets team that slays this dragon is gong to have to be mentally tough. (Think '94 NHL Rangers). Its going to need to be a steam roller, 14-2 type team that slaughters everyone (Think '86 NYG's). Plus, God forbid they win the Super Bowl on a flukey play. The championship will be forever diminished in the eyes of the haters (I'd take it, of course)
Totally agree. This is spot on For starters, we really need to get an AFC Championship game in our building.
1-8 is truly an aberration. We certainly have our issues, but we've played decent enough football to put us position win at least three games. It just hasn't happened. It's one of those years where we can't get that one game-changing break, and we can't make our own breaks either. Only forcing 3 TO's during this losing streak is completely ridiculous. This isn't a 1-15 roster and I bet we win 3 or 4 of the last 7 games. Take the Giants as an example ... They've been absolutely thumped in three of their eight games, but they still managed to go 3-2 in the other five. Our wins will come later in the year.
